Ideas to entertain kids if it rains on my Park Picnic party

Am having my sons 3rd birthday party at a local park on May 9th.
My first query..what would the weather be like at that time of year? Is it likely to be raining? I know we cant be definitive..but just an idea will help.

If it rains..I'm in a fix coz my flat has no garden and a tad too small for 6 toddlers with parents. However I dont want to take them to a soft play area as am keeping costs down..so how can I entertain the children at home with limited space?

The party is in the morning, 11-2.

Um, I don't think you can bank on it not raining at anytime of the year. We live in a flat, as do most of dd's friends so most of the park parties we have been to have had a plan b in case of rain. Is there a cafe in the park? Any shelter at all?

Yes there is a cafe, there are lots of trees as well. Its Valentines Park @ Gants Hill.
Will they let me use the cafe if I bring my own food?

I have not been to that park, but I think if all the Mums buy a coffee, you might get away with it. We went to one park party and a small gazebo shelter was bought along just in case.

My wedding anniversary is 8th May (we've been married 5 years this year) and the weather is usually overcast, reasonabl-ish weather (i've always got a cardigan or showercoat with me!) - but not the nice warm spring days that I'd hope for.
