DD's birthday party tomorrow and I'm pretty sure she has conjunctivitis

What should I do? I have been bathing her eyes all evening. Our doctors surgery is only open tomorrow morning for emergency appointments and I can't class this as an emergency.
Do I call all the parents tonight and explain and offer them the choice whether they come to the party tomorrow or not? Or should I wait until tomorrow and see what her eyes look like in the morning before deciding?
or do nothing and hope for the best?

TIA

Could you get to a late night chemist (if she's still awake) and get some drops ? I usually treat dd with drops from the chemist.

Other than that, I wouldn't personally cancel the party (or even offer the option of not coming) but then maybe I'm irresponsible. I wouldn't expect anyone to cancel in those circumstances. How old is she ? Has she been at school/nursery with most of hte invitees today - if so, she could have already passed it on today.

DD is going to be four Wheelybug. Yes, she has been at pre-school with some of the children today. I didn't think there was anything I could get over the counter for conjunctivitis - I thought the only drops available were on prescription. What do you use?

Boots will give you decent stuff if the child is over 2. I can't remember what it's called now.

If you are lucky it will be gone by the morning.

Yes you can get Chloromphenicol (sp?)over the counter for over 2 year olds - either own label or Optrex do it too. It's relatively recent that you can get it over the counter. Once you have started the drops kids are allowed back at school.
Have a great party!

thanks very much all. We have a chemist at the top of our road who open at 9 am tomorrow so as party isn't until 4 I should be able to get two lots of drops in by then huh? Thanks guys. I didn't realise a birthday party at home could be so stressful (it's DD's first party and DS has only had parties away from the home). I'm pretty sure it will be the last party at home too!!!

Hope you get it sorted Mackenzie - not sure what I've used before, I jsut go in and say she's got conjunctivitis and a couple of doses usually starts improving it.

Hope she has a good party !

thanks wheelybug. My own eyes are itchy now - fingers crossed please that I haven't caught it!
