We have 24 3-4 yr olds in a hall and 4 babies (3 x 11m and 1 x 4 m).

There is a bouncy castle and a paddling pool with balls.

Food = pizza, quorn nuggets, veg spring rolls, veg sausage rolls, crisps, grapes, carrot/pepper/cucumber sticks (tbh I'm expecting to bin these, it's more to show I've made an effort re. healthy food!) and garlic bread.

Drinks - Orange, blackcurrant, water

Activity table - fairy cakes, icing tubes and all manner of sprinkles; colouring sheets with pencils & crayons

Games (if they want them - last year they were all v. happy with just the bouncy castle, but DD says she wants games so I've prepared them just in case) - musical islands (it's a pirate/princess party), find the princess, bubble mat stomping. I am loathe to do pass the parcel for 24 kids as it will take forever!

Face painting & wipes

Wine, coke, lemonade and crisps for parents, also milk, coffee, teabags, sugar

Birthday cake & candles

Party bags, balloons

corkscrew/bottle open, cake knife, matches for candles. Tablecloths, plates, cups, napkins.

First aid kit (MIL is a trained first-aider so we're covered there!)

Camera

kitchen sink....?

Seriously, if there's anything glaringly obvious I've missed off the list, please let me know - I know it's probably overkill, but I do like a good bash!

Bin bags for rubbish and to put presents in

Sounds like it's going to be a fabulous party. Well done for organising it....now relax and chill the wine for a nice large glass for yourself!

ellingwoman · 01/03/2009 09:33

And loads of kitchen roll to mop up spills

Good, you've remembered the cake knife, that's one thing I forgot both years that DD had a village hall party (fortunately village hall is 200yds from house). I only forgot the matches/lighter the first year!

Blutack or sellotape if you're intending to stick any decs to the walls. Sellotape also useful for resticking any labels that fall off presents, so you know who they're from when you get home.

Secure wrist or neck strap for camera - I dropped mine 20 mins into DD's last party, and it stopped working.

We do parties like this!

I always stick in scissors, blue tack, sellotape and string handy.

Are all the parents staying? I do a list of all the children with a space for the parent's mobile number if they are leaving them.

Last year one of the girls was poorly and we did have to use it to phone mum to come back and get her.

What about the music? Have you got that and something to play it on?

bin bags, tea towels, baby wipes

Fantastic! Thank you very much, that was such a big help

One of the mums just thrust her child at my sister (I was in the kitchen), said "Make sure he doesn't eat any meat" and buggered off without leaving a number (sister was so gobsmacked it didn't occur to her to get one) so that was fun.... thankfully he was well and happy throughout and just needed his hand held for bathroom purposes...

It was a great success, we forgot the wine (left it in the fridge at home) but DH went back for it
