I've got the credit crunch - it's a bit like a disease - and due to lack of a job and no income, I'm planning my daughter's 9th for this weekend on a shoestring budget.

Do you think it's possible for £19.99? I hope so, but have a look at my blog for what we're doing; www.nixdminx.com/?p=406- it should be a bit of a laugh...

looks like fun - I like your hats.

I did a version of the decorate your own cake a couple of year ago. DD had a craft party so I made a flat rectangular cake and covered it in white sugarpaste. I modelled a few craft bits- pens, crayons, ruler, paintbrush, and put these round the board. I gave her edible felt tips and she drew a picture on the 'canvas'. was effective and easy.

hope you enjoy the party.

couple of other very cheap ideas if you need them:

drawing game

  • split into 2 teams - 3 per tem fine for this, give each team paper and pens.

have a written list of things to draw - some can be a bit difficult if you like - one person from each team told what to draw, next team member comes up when item guessed, is a race to the end of the list. works well if you have 2 rooms and 1 team in each room and list holder in the middle.

kims game - ie objects on a tray how many can you remember.

only cost a sweet or 2 as prizes
