I am having a party for my one year olds at the weekend- 22 babies (I must be mad). Anyone got any good games/activities suggestions?

Bumping for you.

they won't play games or do activities - just bring some big toys (ride-ons etc) for them to play with

Will there be older siblings who will play games?

one year old's don't play games. They crawl/walk around trying to get into places they shouldn't.

Once they get to about 5 they like musical chairs/statues. Sleeping lions, Grandmas footsteps, Whats the time Mr. Wolf etc.

At about 3 crafty activities are good.

that wasn't meant to sound harsh btw, just being realistic! Is this a PFB party? Sounds rather like the big bash we did for DS1's birthday - a huge affair with bbq etc etc. DS2 had two people over for cake

Guess which one we enjoyed the most?!

Helium baloons always great fun. Would suggest putting a small weight on the bottom of each one so when they let them go they don't float away. You can get the easy fill kits for around 30 -50 balloons from most big supermarkets for around £20.

Cut up squares of paper mark some with crosses leave the rest blank. If they find a blank one they can swop it for a sweet - dolly mixture or chocolate button if they find one with a cross (or a picture if you use the printer) they get a mini pack of sweets/ prize.

A favourite with my boys but they're both lively and were confident youngsters was to put a pack of sweets inside the balloon then blow it up so they have to pop the balloons to get the sweets out.

Siting and singing to a nursery rhyme/ action CD is fun not a game as such but its an activity.

Burried treasure where everyone gets a prize but theres one main prize.

Have fun - your mad but its always nice to do these things.

paddling pool ball pits, pop up tunnels, balloons - that's about it for 1 year olds. It is more important to get some wine in for the bemused adults wondering why their social lives have been reduced to parties for babies

They won't play games.

Just put out all the ride-ons/trampolines/sandpit/pop-up tent etc you have.

ANTagony's suggestions are lovely, but truly, there is no way a 1yo can do any of those things, so don't waste your time. Save them for a couple of years

Save all your energy (and money)for a Birthday party at an age they will remember it!

For our DD and DS first Birthday we had a few family members over for tea and cake.

Seems a bit OTT for a First Birthday well done you if you are up for it.....

ConnorTraceptive · 29/01/2009 15:05

GandT you made me smile ds1 had a pfb first party, alas I fear ds2 will be having just a cake (and not even a particularly special one ordered weeks in advance from the bakery )

Thanks for your suggestions. I know I am mad- but we know quite a few people who wanted to join with us to celebrate their birthday that we thought we would have a baby party. (kind of regretting it now though...) Our two are sociable little fellows so hopefully they will enjoy it. I wanted a couple of games because from the ones we have been to so far, the dads have stood around awkwardly and I thought it would give them a focus. I had thought about a quiz for the parents (is that too sad?!!) I will only do a couple of games, otherwise its crawling etc.
Next year it will just be the four of us....

why don't you do a musical bumps or pass the parcel for the adults?
The children will be more than happy with loads of balloons and nursery rhymes.
Hope you enjoy the day

AttillaTheHan · 29/01/2009 20:19

How about shed loads of bubble mixture, balloons, etc? I agree with other posters it will only raise your stress levels more if you arrange loads of games only for none of the babies to play them!
I would keep it simple and like you say maybe oganise something to occupy the parents.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the party as much as your babies do!
