Depending on how much you want to spend, Prestat chocolates which are v.v.v. gorgeous and look incredibly luxurious in their lovely packaging too.

I know they sell them in a shop at Broadgate in Liverpool St Station, but if that's no use to you then Arena Flowers deliver them throughout the UK (and are very good/prompt/wonderful service).

bottle of champagne?

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/01/2009 14:14

Quick! I'm 49! You don't know me but I'm very nice! Champagne will be lovely thank you!

stealthsquiggle · 23/01/2009 14:18

Hotel Chocolat gift card?

What are the constraints here - time and location?

Salleroo · 23/01/2009 14:42

I'd hate chocolate. Unless you know she is a chocaholic I'd go with spa, facial, pedi voucher. Does she cook? - a really nice cookbook?
Champagne is always a winner as long as it's not 7.99 from Sainsbos (She is 40 after all)

What is your budget? John Lewis vouchers, so she can get clothes, makeup - the weekly shop. How about some nice cheese, wine and crackers in a basket? Again JL are brill with cheese advice (if you dont know yourself).

I'll have the necklace and earrings thanks! Seriously, they would make good presents as long as you have a reasonable idea of what styles/colours she would normally wear.

bananapaddlepop · 23/01/2009 14:57

whats the budget?

Oovavu · 23/01/2009 14:58

Was recently 40. I had the followjng types of present

Jewellery - Lots of it very nice but some not my style/taste so feel a bit mean but won't be wearing it. Best items were simple and classic (chunky silver, big locket, etc)
Chocs - yes esp the unusual makes
Champers - Had lots, which was nice
Posh hand cream
Had lots of pic frames

Best presents (from folk I don't see very often) were vouchers for Monsoon and Boots (bought lots of expensive cosmetics that I can't usually afford)

ok, budget around £40, going to Bluewater to night as have to get it today - you are coming up with good ideas. no idea of style, but she always looks lovely in a clean lines, simple, groomed sort of way.
