My soon to be 8 year old DDS has asked for a quad bike party, I or he have never been to one and I was wondering if any other mum's have been to one or had one for around this age group and I would welcome any comments or advice that you have on this type of party, Thanks.

you'd have to be crazy to agree imo.

A friend of mine gave a go kart party for her 6yo. We didn't go, but as it was all well organised, I think it must be safer than quad bikes.

I have look up the organizations that do this type of party around where we are and it's age range is from 6 years, the bikes are much smaller, than a normal size bike and they are given safety equipment and a qualified instructor who makes sure they are all fully capable of riding the quads before they allowed to go out on them, which is why I have asked for advice as it all seems pretty safe, and please be assured I have looked into this side of the it and I would like advice from people who have had or been to this type of party. Thanks.

My DS1 went on a Junior Quad bike thingymmajig at the town "Carnival" (hahaha) last year. They were much smaler, slower quads and it was over a very (small) flat area they went on.

Had DS1 requested a party like that (cost issue put to oneside) I probably would have considered it.

Thanks so much, for your experiences and comments so far on this , but would love some more! DDS is going to see the venue and the bikes this weekend, to see if that's what he really wants to do for his birthday and if not his second choice is bowling( which if i'm honest is alot cheaper!) and because of the price difference he will be able to invite more friends, but he has really set his heart on this quad bike party and I am still unsure?.

We had a quad bike party for my son when he was 9 and it was a huge success...quite expensive though. I never once felt safety was an issue as instructors went through the workings of the bikes and safety was high on their list. The bikes are much smaller than the adult ones. We tried to persuade my son to have another type of party but this was what he really wanted. I was delighted with the outcome....how excited the kids where and my son felt great as he had a great day with his friends..started a trend in his class. any questions feel free to ask.

Just say no. It's easy.

Our dd had an activity party for her 8th birthday which involved climbing, kayking and quad bikes. She chose 5 friends and overall, the cost was similar to having a whole gang for bowling. I found it a lot less stressful (I HATE bowling places), the kids loved it and I'd certainly do something similar again.

I have just booked a quad biking party for my 5 yr old DS - they are mini-quads, which can be regulated to walking speed, or faster for the older children - there will only be 6 boys in total, 4 quads (they will have 20 mins each) and 3 parents, plus the instructor. I was worried, but the fact that the speed can be controlled put my mind at rest - the biking is £50 for 30 mins - then back to our house for oven chips and pizza - my dilemma is a going home gift - I'd like to keep it quad themed, but keep the gift to about £2.50 each... any ideas?

Have a very good look at the site. My 11-yr-old wanted to do this last year. He and his friends had a ball, but my klutz of a 9-yr-old managed to drive his (small) quadbike up a bank and overturn it on top of himself. He wasn't much hurt, as the power cut out, but I'd go for v v tame landscaping if I was taking other people's young children.

The biggest problem is the 11-yr-old's pleading to go again every weekend!
