My 2.5 year old has been invited to a 3rd bd party for someone at nursery and it's next Sunday.

Been to parties for my friend's kids but this is different as I don't know the child or the parents.

What kind of presents do you buy - how much do you spend? I've noooooooo idea.

Advice and pressie ideas (for a boy) appreciated.

i'm guessing you will stay with dd/s.

Ask parent for pressy advice. ime, this is fine.

Bout 7 quid ish for a school friend.

Wheelybug · 12/01/2009 21:31

Would normally stay at this age.

Agree £7 ish for present - and fine to ask for ideas (dd's 4th is next week and all the nursery mum's have been asking what sort of thing she likes).

I have a girl so probably not best to advise on present for boys !

Stay with them, you will find that most of the other parents do too. I quite enjoy the parties now as it is the only time I really get to catch up with the other Nursery mums!

I usually spend between £5 and £10 (if I can find anything in the sale, mores the better!)

Pressies for a 3 year old boy: Ben 10 stuff, cars, pirates, Thomas the Tank engine

I say £5 unless for a good friend. If it's a small party then a bit more.

TigerFeet · 12/01/2009 21:33

I usually spend about £5 - books, colouring stuff, that kind of thing usually goes down well. You can get sets of toy cars for about five or six quid.

You wouldn't be expected to leave such a small child so it'll be a good opportunity to get to know some of the other parents - I've made a couple of good friends by going to dd's friends' parties

Up to a tenner. Dionsaurs/cars are my stand-bys for boys. Play-doh also good for 3yos.

tryingherbest · 12/01/2009 21:33

Oh brill - I'll call his mum tomorrow and just ask what she think he'd like.

That's sounds fine (I was thinking of spending more actually) but that sounds about right.

I'm looking forward to it so I can get ideas for our party later on in the year.

Many thanks

Yes, I'm looking forward to meeting the parents of kids my little one talks about. I'll be sticking with him - he's too young to be left.

spend what you can afford - I've taken presents from the pound shop when I've been skint and nicer ones when I haven't. My limit is really about £5, but I always make an effort wrapping it nicely. It really is the thought that counts! Anyway, what often happens is the child tears into the presents and the parent has no idea who sent what...

Just buy something your own child would like - they're similar ages. And I don't think they need to be that gender-specific at that age (or arguably, ever, of course!)
