i may kill myself if i have to endure another soft play party.
ehat can i do for ds 5th birthday? we had a traditional party at home last yr for 8 friends, but cant face that again and ANYWAY will be too many children. was thinking hire a hall, smallish one close to us for £4.00 per hour, but what then? try to entertain ourselves or get a man in! any sucessess out there?

Just wanted to add that if it is the cost of the entertainer that is putting you off, that quite a few of them seem to do just one hour shows if you ask them. We paid £200 for a two hour show last weekend for my 6 yr old DD. That was OK cos shared between 3 other mums at a joint party. But my 4 year old son is now desperate for a magician for his (smaller-scale) party and I definitely did not want to pay £200. So I called the entertainer up and asked him if he would do a one hour show. He said yes, and is charging £100 which is rather more reasonable.

You could then do tea, and do some games yourself like pass-the-parcel until parents collect. Anyway, it's just a thought.
