HELP: Great ideas for a party bag (up to £3pp max) for 5 year old girls

I'm happy to spend up to £3 per child but I'm a bit stuck this year as to what to do. We've got party bag 'tat' coming out of our ears from parties that the DD's (6 and almost 5) have been to, which they love for the length of time it takes to empty the bag out and find the sweets ... and then most of it's left forgotten. That sounds awful but I suspect most children are like that ...

Try Baker Ross website for mini craft or beading kits (especially their clearance section)

I bought some Shrinkles kits from there to make bracelets and popped one in each girls party bag -they were really popular yet were only about £1 each.

I've done

notebook
pen
hairclip
packet of seeds

That's all I can recall atm, sorry my memory is obviously going! I think I got the notebooks and pens in Asda.

Small packets of seeds. Pencils/pens. Cookie cutters (buy a big cheap set and divide it out).

..and if you are that way inclined, making the bags themselves out of cheap pretty fabric makes them most of the gift in themselves IYSWIM. I made a dozen for DD's party (lined, with long handles) out of hoarded scrap fabric.

Packets of seeds is an idea I hadn't thought of ... 'huuuuum interesting!

Keep them coming please - any party bags that you are particularly proud of/went down a storm!

playmobil went down well. this sort of thing

iheartdusty · 09/01/2009 20:34

do a lucky dip instead?

for books or a more substantial toy - those small playmobil boxes a good idea - or small crafty kit.

torn up paper in a box, wrapped presents, and maybe a balloon each.

VinoEsmeralda · 09/01/2009 20:36

second playmobil. We did this two years ago and the kids still remember and in most cases have it.

biscuit cutter, print out a biscuit recipe, packet of smarties to put on said biscuits (or scoff in car on way home)

Snowstorm · 09/01/2009 21:14

Oooooh .... KNEW this was a good idea coming on here and asking. Am LOVING the Playmobil idea - that's a corker!

Might keep the biscuit idea as plan B!

Brilliant - thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much!

Have you got a pound land where you are ? Our one has mini bags (and stuffed toys) that you colour in with fabric pens provided. The cookie cutter idea sounds good.

Snowstorm · 09/01/2009 22:27

Yes, there is one nearby - but I haven't seen those mini bags, I'll look out for them. Thank you!

I just bought a big pack of books from The Book People and split them up - worked out at less than a £1 a book - they do the whole Mr Men series which you could split up for example.
