What is the best time of day to have a party for 3 year olds?

They all seem to be at 3 p.m. around here but I find that a real hassle as it means getting the dds up from their naps early. So, I'm wondering whether a morning party works better. Any ideas on timing welcome!

I think we had DDs at 2pm. She isn't having naps during the day any more.

Personally I wouldn't like a morning party because at weekends I like to drag myself gradually into the day! Enough rushing in the morning during the week.

If you are providing food, it might work to have it around 12.

I always do 11-1pm on a sunday. Parking is not permitted Mon-Sat round here. But on Sunday everyone can sty and have coffee and cake, we can do lunch, and then you have the rest of the day to play with pressies. And you don't have them moaning all day 'When is it time for my party?'

We usually do 4.30-6.30pm with games first then finidhing on a party tea. Wear 'em all out in time for bed.

another vote for 11-1am here

time to get up
feed them lunch
pap them out before grizzly
job done

Alternatively, just after lunch: around 12:45 so they have eaten and aren't grumpy/have energy and then finish around 2:15 or 2:30. They should be stimulated enough by the other children to keep going and then if they still have naps, they will be ready for one by the time they get home, if that's when they have one.

12-2 so they are hungry at lunchtime or I guess 11-1 would work too

We just had a party with a mix of four and three year olds and some even younger. I was surprised at how they still managed to scoff down cake and crips cubes around one hour after lunch time.

ChangedMyMind · 03/12/2008 23:32

Absolutely 11.15-12.45, they arrive they play, start feeding them arouund 11.40 they finish savouries, give them "sweets", few more games, goodbye.

1.5 hours is long enough, honest!

3.00 in the morning. Mine were always bloody well awake then - I would have loved to have a party to take them to!

Heehee! Seeker. They can all wear their nighties and the parents can have a snooze in the corner.
