Cookware. They usually have a dish or two that they cook for the party, and say "its done with this recipe and this bit of kit". I quite liked the party I went to.

they demonstrated some sort of savoury lattice puff pastry kind of thingy and a sweet one and we all had a taste, then i bought 3 wooden spooons for about 6 quid ! That was about 10 years ago so lordy knows how much they are now!

good fun evening though, but not cheap if you are looking for a bargain.

Must say i still have one of the spoons left and it has done very well.

Kitchen stuff. I thought it was overpriced, but the pizza stone is good

Sawyer64 · 30/11/2008 22:04

Yes agree,Nice Evening out,get some nice tasters of food, plenty to buy, very good quality equipment and cookware.

Recommend the "chopper" thingy, lots of alternatives on the market, but this one is dishwasher proof, and very strong.Useful for chopping a baby dinner up finely.

Oh have no money but will be taking a bottle of wine and as it's only next door thought i better go organised!
Could be dangerous
What should i get then ? wooden spoon ? We don't really eat pizza. What is a pizza stone ?

A pizza stone is a round stone that you cook your pizza on, and gives a lovely crispy base.

Don't buy if you or DH are likely to drop it when getting out/putting away. A very expensive mistake! (Not me, but a friend's DH)

I second (or is it third?) the chopper. Very useful, durable and dishwasher safe. I also love my pizza stone and use it for biscuits and flans as well as pizza. I love the apple cutter, the measuring spoons and the dressing maker thingy (although I don't use it that much). I do regret buying the cookie press though. Too fiddly.

bollockbrain · 30/11/2008 22:16

i think the cheapest item was a kind of pincer thingy that you can get your toast out of the toaster, or crumpets to save urning your fingers.

They were really good too, and my friend still uses her after all these years.

No doubt about it, the quality wa very good.

Another vote for the chopper. Brill.

I like the idea of the stoneware but it's too pricey and too hard to store imo.

LilySwalLoosHerTurkeyBaster · 30/11/2008 22:32

Is chopper reasonably priced ???

Can't check as their website seems to be down, but I think it is about £16; then again, I have a memory like a sieve ;)

Had mine a couple of years and it's still going strong.

Most of it is very nice - and the sales patter can be very alluring - but beware of the 'indispensible' gadgets which do only one tiny job and will probably spend their life cluttering up your kitchen cupboard. Also beware of joining any e-mail mailing list. It's like the Hotel California - you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
