Is £5-£6 realy stingy?

No way!

I stock up on presents that look like they cost £5 but were actually on sale/buy 2 get the third free etc.

Good grief, you'd have to be pretty rich if you were going to get every child whose party your DC attends a fabbo pressie!

Spend what you can afford - all presents are great!

Well £10-£15 seems to be the going rate round these parts judging by the gifts my DS received at his party a few weeks ago.

I tend to spend £10 max though. Although boots were doing lego helicopters etc for half price a couple of weeks ago so i stocked up on those at just £5 each.

Max £10

belgo · 03/09/2008 15:14

5/6 pounds is fine.

Twiglett · 03/09/2008 15:21

£5 standard .. can get lots for £5 .. £10 would worry me over the year tbh

TigerFeet · 03/09/2008 15:28

£5 max and if I an include the card in that then so much the better.

DD was invited to a lot of parties over the last year - probably about 15 or so. Anything more than a fiver would have meant refusing some invitations as I don't have the ££ to spend much more than I have done on gifts for dd's friends.

I did note that most parents' budget is a bit higher though when I saw what dd got for her birthday from her friends. TBH it made not a jot of difference - dd enjoyed receiving the gifts and opening them - the value of the contents wasn't an issue at all so her friends' parents could have saved some of their cash imo.

For a "class party" anything from £2.50 - £5.00

for special friends, between £10-15

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2008 15:31

£6-7 pounds

Slubberdegullion · 03/09/2008 15:31

£ and a pounds

buggerit

LongDroopyBoobyLady · 03/09/2008 15:34

Think it depends on how "close" you are to the birthday boy/girl.

HappyMummyOfOne · 03/09/2008 22:05

Anything betweeb £8 and £15 - I let DS choose lol - luckily he only has 7 other children in his class so theres only 2 or 3 parties a year.

notsoteenagemum · 03/09/2008 22:13

Will go up to £10 for close friend, but try to buy stuff from home bargains etc through the year for such things.

elliott · 03/09/2008 22:27

Usually £5-7. Can get a book for that, or decent amount of craft stuff.

electra · 05/09/2008 22:43

£7-£10

For girls I tend to get things from Angels in Accessorize.

handlemecarefully · 05/09/2008 22:44

No less than £5 and no more than £10

ChasingSquirrels · 05/09/2008 22:44

£5-7

handlemecarefully · 05/09/2008 22:45

I was pleased / grateful but felt a bit awkward when a school mum bought my dd a scooter for her birthday

pinkbubble · 05/09/2008 22:46

£5 -£7 if DDs do not play with them that often.

£10 for regular friend.

electra · 05/09/2008 22:46

handlemecarefully · 05/09/2008 22:47

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2008 22:57

cooandtwo · 05/09/2008 23:21

hmc, it could have been bargain one from argos

(they were selling them for under a tenner).

Still seems like a big present though.
