at somewhere like Pizza Hut or MacDonalds similar?

Once again I've got to the middle of August and realised I haven't sorted anything for DS1's birthday (16th September) - I could just do a party at home (like he had for his 5th) but I promised him months ago we'd do something different (at his request - completely unprompted).

I've rung around a few places today - the church hall is booked as are all the other "normal" places for the weekend before and after his birthday.

So - would I be considered a completely "uncool" mother if I were to do something like that????

well - I broached the idea of a Macdonalds meal with a few of his friends and then coming back here for a PS2 Marathon and he LOVED the idea - so now he just has to decide which friends he wants to invite

Now need to get on with organising DS2's party - think I've found an entertainer/DJ that can do the weekend I'm hoping for - waiting for him to get back to me again then I can book the hall

My DS is 8 tomorrow and we're doing bowling for 4 and then Pizza Hut. I think that's par for the course for that age. I agree that cinema first would be a good idea too.

When ds1 was 8 we had a movie party at home - he asked 6 or so friends. They got to choose sweets from the 'shop', pop corn and fizzy drinks and then watched a DVD.

Fed them burgers and sent them home.

Think it was the endless supply of coke and lemonade that made it a hit with ds1.
