Party Bags- What do you spend?

Considering adding party bags to my business.

Would any of you consider buying in ready filled bags?

What sort of price would you pay for prefilled? or what have you spent doing your own?

Would you buy from someone advertising by posters/ flyers or would you prefer/ trust a shop more?

Was thinking of perhaps visiting parents at home with samples to take orders. Does this sound appealing to a stressed mum or more hassel?

Any other things I could sell along side Party Bags? Perhaps whole kits inc streamers, balloons, plates etc etc.

TIA all ideas welcome not sure what to do with my stagnating business.

Tamtum- no local magazines that I know of but kids came home with a free mag from school it will be monthly to all Scottish kids with local editions. I have e.mailed them as they seem desperate for advertising.

I tried sending a flyer to a few PTA's c/o their schools I got 1 reply looking for stall at two events so not totally useless.

Tobar supply to museum shops, gift and toy shops trade as Hawkins Bazaar to the public. I get most of my stuff from them as they have loads under a £5.

Tamum, you can have any view you like! Isn't that 1/2 the fun of being on MN?!

That sounds good, Skribble. I'm in Scotland too, but I haven't seen it yet. I'll watch out!

Thank you moondog I just hadn't realised pre-mumsnet that anyone felt so vitriolic about them!

No I would never buy one.

moondog I'm wiht you on the partybag front. I always tell children who ask for them how rude they sound. Makes me a really popular Mum as you can imagine.
Generally seem to get a very positive (and relieved)response from other parents though

Have a 10 child, party at home only rule and wiht 3 kids they are only allowed to go to the parties of children they would want to ask back to their own party.

Imagine 3 classes of 30 where everyone invites the class - thats 90 parties 90 presents and no free weekends a year. Yikes.
