Bought cheap books for ds party 'bags' online and they're too big to fit in any bag

Stupid question about a trivial problem but here goes. I bought some book sets cheaply from The Book People after someone on here recommended them. The books are fab and look like they cost way way more than a £1 each (which actually I'm a bit embarassed about as don't want the other parents to think we're being over the top - they look like they were more like a fiver each at least)

Anyway, I'd bought cellophane bags to put the books in plus choc etc. but there's no way they'll fit. Is it ok to hand the books out as people go but unwrapped or is part of the fun for the kids taken away if there's no bag to delve in/ wrapping to take off?

How could I wrap them up/ what bags could I buy cheaply and with zilch effort (oh and quickly as no time to buy online!)

p.s. I guess the books are about A4 size, thin though

I did books at one of dd's parties and just got cheap wrapping paper from Poundland to wrap them in.

PinkChick · 04/07/2008 10:17

could you wrap them in gift paper and give them with party bag?

WilliamGray · 04/07/2008 10:17

as an awardwinnign travel writer id sya give em a suitcase

fryalot · 04/07/2008 10:18

why don't you have them as prizes for party games?

Or give them to the children a day or so later with thank you notes for the presents they gave?

cheap roll of wrapping paper from tesco (less than a quid) and wrap them, won't take very long as books are easy to wrap.
Don't think other parents will think you have spent a fiver per book, they will thing you have bulk brought

Chocolateteapot · 04/07/2008 10:23

Cheap wrapping paper, stick in a box as a lucky dip.

William - you might be an award-winning travel writer and have the dosh to buy suitcases, I am a mere travel writer so cheapo paper will have to do

Ugh the thought of having to wrap 15 presents up.....

Good idea chocolate....then they get the fun factor out of it.

Off to woolies this pm for huge quantity of cheapo paper.

Actually maybe plain large paper carrier bags would be easier....anyone know where you can buy them (not online as no time)?

Print shops? Maybe I should go into a small shop and offer to buy some but I can't think of where uses plain ones!!

A4 envelopes might work out cheaper than bags. Get your lo to decorate the envelopes with stickers?
