Party in the woods

DS1 will be 7 in August and he is insisting on having a 'party' in the woods. There will be eight 7 year-old boys altogether (plus 2 adults to control proceedings .)

Before DH and I totally discount the idea , I was wondering if anyone had any game suggestions? Relatively safe ones, please.

Thanks

ooh, take some rope and make swings. Some string and make bows and arrows. Build dens. Pine cone fights.

Hmm, not helping uch am I? I love the idea though! You could have a robin hood theme.

my dd1 had a 7th birthday in the forest. We did a treasure hunt with clues and items to scavenge for along the way. And buried a box of treasure in a sandpit. Also we made a pinata and hung it from a tree.

You might need a wet weather plan. Our forest had a room which we booked too and could have used for indoor games if it had been rainy.

Thanks for the ideas. Totally forgot about the treasure hunt thing. And Robin Hood.

Hmm, and I hadn't thought of a wet weather plan . I don't want eight 7 year-olds in my house!!!

Will give it some though now though....

good plan for a party.

treasure hunt yes, also have you got local ranger types? there often have materials and resources you can use for bug hunts, looking for stuff in streams (with wellies)

keeping it woodland based you can include things like wood craft - get hold of some willow and you can bend it into ready drilled holes to make flowers or something more boyish like erm a boat from birch?

food would be easy, picnic.

what kind of boy is he? is he into nature or more adventure and bombing about? or very mature into festival in the woods?

You could spend time making lanterns, then have a procession with loud noisy instruments about dusk? (which actually is a bit late in august...!)

Or just take them down, with one activity planned and let them mess about the rest of the time. getting hold of a bunch of likely looking wood for den making would be good

wet weather - tell them to bring wet weather gear and take a easy up gazebo for picnic?

Great idea about the wet weather, Slur.

He is a VERY boisterous boy as are all the invitees, so I think the games will be very much 'action' based.

I knew MN would help with ideas - keep em coming.
