Ideas for party bags?

Hiya am throwing a birthday party for my nearly 3 year old for the first time and I'm looking for ideas for the party bags. I want something the kids will actually use/eat and not those random little toys that they will use for 5 minutes and then will end up in the landfill. Age range for children is roughly about up till 8 years old and preferably something that won't break the bank! Thank you in advance!

Had a party recently for a similar aged child.

We put in temporary tattoos, a tub of of Playdoh, a little chocolate bar (Buttons/Animal Bar type), bubbles, a bit of cake and a clay model of a dinosaur face that the kids could paint themselves at home. It came with a few little paints and a brush (available on Etsy).

Been to lots of parties where the parents give out wrapped books. I hate the plastic tat too, so tried to avoid it.

When we did a party that had a big age range like that we did make it yourself sweet cones, put out a selection of pick n mix tubs, some empty sweet cone bags and twisty ties and it formed a part of the activities they did at the party. At the end they took home a bag with a slice of cake, their sweet cone and a couple of the balloons we’d used as decoration tied to the handle of the bag. It worked really well and sending them home with the balloons meant one less thing to tidy up and dispose of at the end of the party.

At this time of year there’s loads of discounted tubs of chocolates and sweets around so you could pick up some miniature hero’s and such like really cheap.

Alternatively they could do make your own hot chocolate kits, so you send them off with a sachet of hot chocolate and they make up a bag of marshmallows, sprinkles and biscuits.

For a third birthday I recently made big sweetie cones at home and gave them with one of those huge tubes of bubbles. Massive hit with kids, zero tiny bits of tat (plastic or not, they’re still tat), and loads of parents thanked me for something that was used, enjoyed, and didn’t create extra clutter or crap at home

Ding ding ding we have a winner! Love this idea! Especially the balloons going home with all the children!
