I am having a party for DS1 on the 7th June (hopefully the rain will have stopped by then there will be 14 children in total. The party is from 1-3pm do I presume everyone would have had lunch first? If so what type of food should I put on if any? The theme is Rockets.

Also we have hired a bouncy castle and I was going to put other toys out in the garden, like a swingball, ds's sandpit and ride-ons, the tent with balls in. I was only planning on doing a pass the parcel on top of this. Should I be thinking of other activities or do you think there will be enough to be getting on with. There will be 9 girls and 4 boys ( I know, an abundance of girls here, not many boys around at all )

Any help appreciated

i'd do the traditional party food but plate individually or inboxes so you don't over cater (i.e. 3 cocktail sausages; 1/4 of a sandwich etc) and set it up as a picnic in garden.

rather than chocolate biscuits / cake etc, offer out those rocket ice lollies.

we've done the bouncy castle now for 2yrs - only added pass the parcel. didn't put out extra toys but had slide, seesaw and swing already in garden. nobody got bored.

Garden toys and a pass the parcel sounds fine to me. I have tried other games with three year olds but they wanted to play with the toys more.

Would definately do food. Sausages, low salt crisps, grapes, carrot or cucumber sticks to make yourself feel good, a few sandwiches - most wont touch them so don't go overboard. Some cake stuff too but cut them all up small as most kids just want one bit of everything they can see.

I would always do food for a party.

If a party was from 1pm to 3pm I would probably assume we would be getting lunch.

I would serve it at 1.30 ish so if anyone hadn't had lunch they weren't starving.

Don't bother with any other games, 2-3 yos too young to get it.

They will just love playing in the garden it'll be great!

Thanks, that was along the lines I was thinking. I was also going to do drinks and nibbles for the adults. Just hope the weather gets better for us now

Thanks Clary, that was what I was wondering due to the timing of it

Having said that, DS2 went to a party t'other day with that timing and food was served at about 2.15pm...

(not sure what meal that was!)
