Any ideas....I don't want garish plastic tosh and that's what most of the ones coming up on Google do!!

It's for 3 year olds btw.

Someone on here the other day suggested a miniature plant pot with a sunflower seed and little plastic bag of compost, or a little pot of playdoh. I thought they were quite good ideas for that age but sorry don't know any websites.

Yes buy some of those paper money envelopes and put some seeds in with basic instructions for planting.

Little notebook and a pencil

What do you want to spend? If you have a poundworld/poundland near you, look there - tehy do have garish plastic tosh but also often some good stuff like stickers/activity packs/colouring books/pencils/games etc. The Book People multi-packs often work out at around £1 a book, have used a few times. Cake mix kits went down well one year too - from supermarkets.

Would it be ok to just give one pressie rather than a load of tosh do you think...there are some good kits in a certain big supermarket at the moment e.g. grow your own x etc.

p.s. although I only want to spend £2.50 or £3 as we have quite a lot of kids coming so maybe the budget wouldn't stretch to those.
No poundland near here....there is a really junky equivalent but it is total tat in there.

I just buy packs of book from book people and attach a baloon. A pound a person.

lucykate · 25/05/2008 14:34

i've just filled party bags today ready for ds's birthday tomorrow, each has in it, a mini pot of playdoh (came in a bag of 10 pots for £2.50), a glitter pen, a bouncy ball and a packet of seeds (39p each from wilkinsons)

NO sweets

mellyonion · 25/05/2008 14:34

i like book people books too...

i have used this company at christmas time....nice bits and pieces...cheapish too... they do nice bags.....i boght my kids the cotton bags and a packet of fabric crayons for £1.10 total...they loved doing their own bags.

lilolilmanchester · 25/05/2008 17:24

£2.50 - £3 far more than I'd ever spend on party bags. £1.50 max for me, especially for the bigger parties.

MNersanonymous · 25/05/2008 19:26

Thanks guys - I did the mini pots of playdough + other bits last year and wanted to do something a bit different - Book People book + balloon sounds perfect....they look like they have some good Charlie and Lola ones.

thanks for all the ideas.

I bought the party bag stuff for dd's party today, she'll be 4 so a mix of 3/4 year olds coming plus a few other ages. I went with the plant pot idea. Went to wilkinsons and spent £6 that bought the plastic pots, soil/composty type stuff, seeds and little plastic basg(to put the soil in) I have enough for 30 kids but have only invited 23 so hopefully not that many will come

Eddas · 25/05/2008 19:40

a friend bought the ready made lucky bags for her dd's party, the ones that are £2 each. Might be a bit too young for a 3 year old though
