Pass the parcel prizes

Hi ladies,
My daughters nursery is doing a week long party / celebration of 'finishing nursery to start school'. It's spanning across a week with various things so that it includes all children. Party games, face paint etc.
I have offered to make up a couple pass the parcel games and now wondering what I have actually done! 🙈 I thought 'oh I have a couple of cheap unwanted gifts I could wrap up suitable for both boy and girl'. I was going to wrap in alternative coloured papers and job done. I've now realised there might actually be more to this than I thought! Am I supposed to wrap a gift in each layer? Should all the gifts me of equal size and value? 😱
Slightly regretting my decision!
Thank you!

DS had his birthday party yesterday and I wrapped 2 parcels to play pass the parcel, there were 30 kids so definitely a good idea to have 2 parcels going round at once.
Top tips:
Use proper wrapping paper on the prize layer and the very outside and then use sheets of newspaper for all other layers, as it takes a lot of paper!
I put a little prize in each layer, just a sweetie, if you do this make sure they are flat ones. We also had a separate jar of sweets that they could dip into at the end in case anyone didn’t get to open a layer.
Don’t assume (like I did) that the kids will know how to play the game! I wish I’d explained it a bit more and encouraged them to pass it as quickly as possible as a bit of a race, honestly it took ages as they all wanted to hold on to the parcel when they got it.
Probably a good idea if the main prizes are of similar value but don’t stress to much, the kids will just be delighted to win!

Thank you @YessicaHaircut
Good tips! I thought chocolate coins maybe or sheets of stickers between each layer. The two gifts I have to regift (which gave me the idea) are a Bluey paint your own money box and some crayons which I was going to get a colouring book to go with it. Do you think that's okay or too much and going to cause tears when only two kids get an actual gift?

I always put a sweet in each layer then a bigger prize at the end but that was for children's birthday parties when i knew all the children and their parents so no issues with allergy, not allowed sweets, chocolate etc
For nursery if you want a small prize in each layer could you put a couple of stickers, small erasers, pencil etc. then at the end notebook or some other nice stationery.
I don't think it should be anything expensive or huge

Thanks @Pinty
I have a bluey paint our own money box and some pencils of which I was going to pair up with a colouring book. Do you think that's too much? I can always get soemthing else cheap. It was just a couple things in the cupboard that we don't need so thought it was a nice thing for the nursery to help them. I think stickers would be a better option incase of allergies you're right.

It wasn’t how it was done in the 90s but now every pass the parcel game has a sweet in between layers. It’s more fun for the kids for everyone to get a small thing and the one main prize.

Hi @Uifpdjjjj I know! That's why initially I thought just wrap two gifts! Then wondered if that was right now a days!
I saw a thing somewhere where some people put forfeits in like do 5 jumps or a rolly poly in-between the layers which I thought was also a good idea, just a number on a piece of paper and then the leader / teacher reads out the forefit. Not sure if that is too complicated to tell nursery what I have done though but it sounds fun!

Adding small prizes to each layer would be nice, you could put chocolate coins, stickers, you can even make pocket calendars with cartoon characters, etc. Everything that is flat and small would fit well!
