Have got DS3 who is turning 7 soon a few littles bits but looking for other ideas/inspiration. He's into Sonic, football and drawing. Other kids in his year seem to be getting Nintendo switches but seems too early. Thoughts?

I think a switch is fine at that age tbh.
If you aren’t keen my 7 year old got a science kits, football guess who, elect go kart, gift vouchers for local science centre and a new bike helmet.

Edit to add he got a 3D pen at Christmas which me loves

Is 7 ok for a switch?

Wow a nintendo switch already ? My son turns 7 in october and I wouldn't. Even though I love gaming and would love to share that passion with him, I feel like it's too early.

I recently got him minecraft magnetic building blocks and a light-up drawing. He's also always keen on little toy cars (hot wheels and such). And books.

Also if it's a birthday I'd just ask him what he'd like (which isn't a promise to get it ! ). Just get a list from him and see which is suitable and within your budget.

Also think about what his special interests are. My son is very curious and likes to understand how stuff works so I'm thinking of getting him stuff like a crystal growing kit, etc.

If he likes drawing you could get him art supplies or a drawing tablet (there's a huge range of them for all ages and skill levels).

And maybe books that explain how to draw stuff.

Is 7 ok for a switch?

For us, yes. But as I said there are alternatives if you aren't keen.

Yes, I think we'll hold off on the switch for a bit longer. He's not asking.

We did ask him what he wanted and he said he doesn't know. Like most kids, he has so much!
