Ds is 4 and in a pre-school attached to a junior/infants school. They have a buddy system where they pair up with someone from Y6. His buddy will be 11 soon, and ds adores him, so I wanted to buy him a gift for his birthday. But I don't know any boys of this sort of age, so would love your recommendations for what I could buy.

I get the impression he is quite creative (drawing and writing), and know he has about four siblings, but apart from that, know very little about him.

Suggestions please for a present for about £8 to £10!

I'd say play safe and go for an HMV or Woolies voucher or similar.

By that age they have soooo much stuff and are more into computer games etc. Or a book token if you're sure he's into reading (sadly a lot of boys are not)

That's very kind of you, btw!

Thanks - a voucher sounds a good idea.

WH Smith vouchers are good, too.

Ooh yes - WH Smith sounds good - then he could put it towards a DVD or computer game, or could buy a book or cheapy CD or a toy/game. Can't beleive it didn't even cross my mind to get a voucher - derr!

another vote for vouchers.

BTW love the idea of the buddy system!

The buddy system is fab. They meet up formally once a week and do something together - like an art project, or reading and talking about a book together. And they see each other in passing throughout the school day. DS is always so excited to see his buddy. And the older ones seem to love it just as much as the little ones. I think everyone gets something very positive out of it, and it's great for DS to have a "big brother" role model since he is an only child.
