Does this sound okay for 5th party?

We are having a make a bear party in a hall for 10 children in total. I bought some DIY kits online. The party will be for two hours. So far I have planned to do the following:

Send them on a hunt to find the bears wrapped up (this won't take long being in a hall with little spaces to hide them!)

Make the bears ( unsure how long this will take).

Have lunch (allow 30 minutes?) , sing happy birthday with cake.

Decorate cupcakes 'for the bears' for them to take home and eat there?

Pass the parcel which will be outfits for the bears that I managed to find on marketplace (unfortunately some are a bit better than others).

Musical statues/disco . We will shut the curtains and have a small disco ball and use something like Alexa for the music.

Does this all sound okay? Will it fill the time? What shall we do while waiting for the arrivals?
Should we make the bears on the table or on the floor?

Any Input will be welcomed, anything to take out or suggestions to do?

Thank you.

That sounds nice! Not heard of that idea before so it'll certainly be different. How do you make the bears? Is it something easy for a 5 year old to do?

Thank you. It looks fairly easy, they just need to stuff them and it's a non sew way of putting them together. They may need a little adult help but will get it if they need it.

Sounds fun and saves on party bags!

  • portable speaker probably better than an alexa. Make a playlist in advance with kids classics and danny go/freeze dance/floor is lava games and they'll be happy and you can crack on without adverts
  • Deffo do the bears on a dedicated craft table, you can 'mise en place' by having everything in bowls or on the table ready like at playgroup

Good idea about the portable speaker, we do actually have one.

I think that sounds loads! You haven't built in at least 30 mins of them running around like crazy things...

Lindy2 · 16/02/2025 22:43

That sounds great fun.

I always had a pack of temporary tattoos as a party back up. It was a good way of getting them to sit down and could fill any quiet gaps. It sounds like you have lots of fun things already planned though.

As a PP said at 5 years old gaps tend to get filled very well with mad running around. 😂

The cupcakes might be too tempting. I'd let them just decorate and scoff straight after lunch. And they can take a slice of the birthday cake home.

Sounds like a fun party! You can get (or make) tiny party hats for the bears and have lunch be a teddy bears picnic. Agree with PP to have some emergency things for kids who race through activities like the temporary tattoo station. Or have the bears' party hats put on a table with stickers/stick-on gems to decorate their bear's hat. Pin the nose on the bear and win a chocolate teddy bear. That sort of thing.

Bubble machine is always extra fun too!

My daughter did one of these recently and they also put little hearts inside, made a birth certificate, so filled in the name etc, and they coloured / decorated a plain white t shirt that went on the bear, so that dragged things out a little!

Yes we will be doing that too. That's good.

Can we just please not use AI for replies it’s so annoying

OP it sounds a great party.

IME it’s good to do 30 mins of party games before sitting down to eat. If you finish with lazy lions and tell them when they feel a tap on the head it’s time to go up to the table that works quite well to move them from one activity to the next.

Thank you, oh yes I remember lazy lions. I think they would enjoy that.

Where did you get the bears from please?

LavenderFields7 · 20/02/2025 08:55

Don’t underestimate how much energy 5 year old excited kids have! I would just get an indoor bouncy castle instead. I don’t think they will have the attention span or manual dexterity to sew bears together.

They don't sew them together, it's a very clever velcro that pulls it together from the inside.
We have done bouncy castles in the past but they are ridiculously expensive, want to do something different.

Sounds great. Have lots of fun. (I'm sure the kids will too!).
Have a few dances ready they can follow along too....macarana type dances
...the year I tried to do the steps line dance was a little advanced for 5 year olds.

Thank you. Please come back and update the thread once you’ve had the party on how it went as I think my daughter would love this for hers!
