How do you manage whole class parties in reception?

So, say thirty children, and friends from outside of school? Could easily end up with forty or so.

Do people have soft play parties this size or is it a case of being a bit ruthless?

We didn't do whole class parties. Maximum of 10 children.

That's basically what we did through the years with each of them. Ten is a lovely number.

I sucked up the cost and outsourced it all to a trusted softplay place. I admire parents who host and cater their own parties but it's not for me.

Same 😂

Thanks for replies. I think the problem is that once you’ve hired the hall and any entertainment and food it’s so costly AND so much work whereas for softplay parties it’s just costly. I know whole class isn’t mandatory but hate to leave people out.

That works out really, really expensive though (and is a lot of work!) Do soft play parties stop being a thing, then?

Soft play lightyears more expensive than a hall. Hall around £50-70 for a half day (4 hours - prep, 2 hr party, tidy up). Cheapest soft play party around here I can find is £16 per child, not including anything (food/party bag/exclusive use).

You live somewhere cheaper than me - when I enquired about hall costs for a Halloween party it was a lot more than that and that’s without food / entertainment.
