Food or no food?

I am planning my DC's birthday party (May) & found somewhere outside that organises the activities and runs the party but does not supply the food / leave time for food so they suggested we do a big picnic in a nearby field after the party finishes.
This will be my DC's first school party, I don't know the parents that well and I'm not sure how keen people would be with this idea, i also thought maybe I could send them home with a lunch bag but again I'm not sure how the parents would feel about this?
Party is either 11.30 - 1 or 1.30 - 3.
Any ideas or feedback welcome pleaseSmile

You'll need to provide a little something for them but doesn't have to be elaborate, just snack type food. I suggest setting up a table with a little buffet on where they can go and help themselves to whatever they want.
Suggestions:

Sandwiches cut into quarters and do ham, cheese and jam for the fillings.

Slices of pizza

Some party ring biscuits (these always go down well)

Bowls of crisps such as quavers or wotsits

Mini sausage rolls

Some cucumber and carrot sticks

Small cakes like fairy cakes. Aldi do a pack of them with icing on.

Jugs of squash/juice and also provide a jug of water.

Alternatively, you could make them up a lunch box each with the little cardboard lunch boxes which you can get off Amazon.

Thank you for your feedback @Birthdaycakewithwine
I'd forgotten to mention it is an outside venue so I worry about food being uncovered but I could get the packaged things you mentioned.

Thank you again

I’d go with the 1.30-3 slot and tell people it’s snacks only, which should be fine as it’s not over a mealtime and you’ll have told people in advance. Then just do crisps, juice cartons, cupcakes type things that are all in packets so no issues with it being outside if you get unlucky with the weather and maybe could also be munched during activities, depending on what the activities actually are.

DD is a May birthday and I'd be worried about the weather for a picnic in the park unless there is a covered area.

We've had an even mix of cold and pissing it down and warm and sunny, with one of the pissing it down ones unfortunately being during covid when we were only allowed small outdoors/garden gatherings. We had a small group of her friends round for a garden party, ended up having to hastily source a few gazebos from friends and family and try to cover as much of the garden as possible,

Thank you all. I think we're going to go with a different venue this year.
