I am looking for a clown ith a recommendation for my ds home party (he'll be four). Has anyone seen / hired a really good one in the London area please?

Thank you!

Sorry, no recommendations. Has he asked for a clown? My dd of 4 is terrified of them!

Yes, he has - result! And he wants the party at home - fantastic!! As it's in under 3 weeks, I don't have to worry about a venue

Don't go for a classic circus-style clown, kids find them terrifying, and half the invitees will start sobbing immediately.

We used Fizzie Lizzie years ago for dd1's 5th birthday, and ended up using her again in December for dd2's 4th birthday (booked by parents of child we were sharing a party with).

Her number (on a quick google) is 020 77233877, but if that doesn't work I'll check her mobile no. with dd2's friend's mum, who organised it all.

She is very very good, not cheap, but none of your 'half-cooked student trying to earn some spare cash' business -- I'm guessing she might have been a primary school teacher in a former life, and has complete control, but also manages to have the kids in stitches. If you want to have a completely packaged kids party with only the food and invitations to worry about, it is the way forward.

Ah, just seen it's in three weeks, might be a problem. True Alphamums (not me!) book months in advance, so you might have to take pot luck with whoever's available.

Just don't go for the classic clown, trust me on this. I've seen it go wrong numerous times -- a roomful of hysterical (in a bad way) kids is not what you're aiming for.

I'm bloody terrified of clowns let alone DS!
DH said "you can't be scared of clowns. You read 'IT'".
Yes - but there weren't any pictures in the book! And [SPOILER IF YOU'VE NOT READ IT] it wasn't really a clown anyways

Thank you AgonyBeetle! Yes - The student that gets it totally wrong is the one I am concerned about...hence the post!! Will try Fizzie Lizzie - you never know. Thanks for your time!
