DD's 5th birthday party

Ok, DD'd birthday not till June but already worrying. Basically she is a party nut and loves a good old kiddies party. Last year she had her own party at home with nursery friends (bout 8 in total). She is already asking about this years party. However, my problem is what to do and who to invite so would appreciate any thoughts on this. She started school in September and has had invites to a few parties already although not all. She says when she has her party she would like to invite certain people, not all the class. I feel I agree but she isnt exactly friends with just a few people and seems to mingle with everyone so dont want to offend any children. Some of the ones she wants to invite have had their own parties and not invited her and this (being childish) makes me not want to invite them to DD's. Is the general idea that you invite the whole class? Also, if we invited a fair few we couldnt have a party at home as not much room so that would mean booking somewhere, is it better to do that? I hate the idea already as I am not that friendly with all the mums at her school and to be honest would rather just take her off for the day. I have said wouldnt it be nice to go off as a family instead but she looks all sad and says she would love a party? Is it mean to deprive her just beacause I dont want the hassle? It doesnt help when I have read a few threads here about chasing for responses from parents and then others not even showing up, seems like a lot of messing around to me??!!

same boat here. dd 5 on sunday. basically seems she likes / mingles with everyone but when asked to list names she only named a few girls. there's only been 5 parties so far to which shes been invited and i've added their names if she missed them out.

certainly not doing full class as that would be 60! and she has said no boys except for her bestest friend.

so i've got 15 coming sunday afternoon, got bouncy castle booked and my dad is doing a weeny puppet show for them.

Sounds fab, do you hire your dad out lol!!! Bouncy castle is always a hit, great idea.
DD's class is 26 and mainly girls. I wouldnt want them all here but to be honest cant afford to book anywhere as all too expensive.I think I am just not a party person unlike DD.
Good luck for yours and happy birthday to DD!

i get too excited and carried away with their parties. filled party bags today and made the pass the parcel.

my dad is being rather forced into it by dd actually as dd has spent the last week with him at a conference selling his puppets!

I wish I could get excited about parties, dont fancy organising ours do you, lol!! I hate all the party bag stuff and organising games. Blimey, I sound a right grump dont I but i'm not really, honest!
Sounds like your dad makes puppets? Great for your DD to get involved and VERY handy when it comes to parties.
