Kids party - “Save the Animals” Theme

So, my nearly 6-year-old daughter is all set for her trampoline party. The venue is organised, I'm just leaving it to the last minute to organise invites, party bags, cake etc. I'd assumed she would go for a unicorn or mermaid or similar theme, but no, she’s thrown me a curveball with “Save the Animals.”

I am both proud and guilty at this as I know this is a result of frequent lectures on the environment (mostly in response to repeated questions - why is this animal dying out? This one? And this one? But why?) but honestly sometimes trying to drum into her why I hate buying more than we need, especially toys when we already have so many and single use plastics. I caught my Mum at it last week too. I think we've gone a bit overboard on it and she's feeling personally responsible for global warming. (And she has almost stopped asking me for toys - or at least started accepting no for an answer, so maybe it has worked!)

Anyway, I'm feeling a bit stumped.I’m pretty sure she won’t be chuffed if I suggest people donate to the WWF instead of bringing gifts (as lovely an idea as that is), and I suspect the other kids might not be too thrilled with a voucher to adopt an endangered fish as a party favour. I'd wanted to go for sustainable gifts anyway, but I’m struggling to find anything that most kids would be impressed with that doesn’t cost a small fortune and now also I need to add in the "save the animals" aspect.

Any brilliant ideas for party bags, or any other suggestions, would be much appreciated! Mumsnetters, over to you! (Any tips on making a trampoline party specifically special also welcome - I suppose glitter tattoos are out given the theme!)

Wildflower seeds? Bee saver kit?

Be honest with her. It’s her party and maybe she could celebrate a particular animal in danger to raise awareness.

Home made bird feed kits, insect hotel instructions for party favours. Seeds for the garden to save the bees.

Thanks. I suppose my issue is that my daughter is ambivalent to these sorts of gifts, (seeds etc) but I suppose she is unique in her way and perhaps other children are more inspired by these!

You can make a quiz with questions that would cover various interesting facts about animals. Make an animal picture slideshow with questions and hints, and think of small prizes that would be connected to the topic: stickers with animals, animal shaped soap, coloring calendars with pets, etc.

Honestly it's a party at a trampoline park does it need a theme?

Just don't do party bags and hand out cake at the end if she doesn't want to give out plastic stuff but I certainly wouldn't be trying to shoehorn a theme into it.

On a side note, it's climate change, not global warming.

Does she really mean she wants a jungle animal theme with elephant balloons and panda plates? Nothing wrong with that at 6. Or is she genuinely interested in the conservation message?

She could choose recyclable paper party bags and WWF or similar stickers and pin badges if you wanted to avoid the balloons and party bag plastic.
