Mostly girls, and if so which games? (I can only think of pass the parcel atm)

We've had to change plans at the last minute for dd's party which is why my mind has gone blank.

'statues' inbetween dancing seems popular

dancing games in general really - if you have an even number of children you could put them in pairs and get each pair to dance with a balloon between their tums or backs - the last pair to drop the balloon wins.

Musical cushions (instead of chairs)

North, East, South, West.(Play music, get children to choose a station when music stops, spin the spinner, whichever direction it points to, those kids are out) Can be adapted with pics of favourite popstars etc instead of directions.

Pass the orange under the chin

Treasure hunt

Yes!

Kim's Game. Twelve items on a tray, they look for one minute...then cover the tray and get them to write down what was on it

This had 20 7 year olds totally engrossed for at least 15 minutes at ds' party

Pin the tail on....Robbie Williams? Barbie?

Either way, also popular.

Dancing games v. popular at my dd's 7th birthday party.
Musical statues
Musical islands.
Pass the parcel (At this age, they might appreciate doing a little forfeit - depends on the crowd - tell a joke, sing a song, etc.)
We did the Macarena which they all loved. (They did the birdy dance at another party which went well.)
Limbo - loved that too.
Pin tail on donkey - (we did pin microphone on a picture of Gabriella and Troy)
We also did "I am a banana" - printed out lots of pictures from the internet and then you attach one to the child's head without them seeing it (tuck it under a hairband which is round there head), the child then has to ask the others lots of questions to guess what they are. ("Am I a person", "Am I a vegetable" Am I green? etc) We had a "cheat sheet" of all the possible things they could be which the kids all could look at - did Disney princesses, fruit, different kinds of vehicles etc. They loved that too.

the chocolate game

u have a big bar of chocolate a knife and fork a hat gloves and scarf in the middle

kids sit in a circle and take turns to roll dice if kid gets a 6 they go in middle put on hat scarf gloves then use knife and fork to cut up choc bar and eat bits

meanwhile everyone continues rolling dice once someone else gets a six they must swap places so if someone gets one before the first kid has got as far as eating choc they miss out!.......therefore its a bit of a race and funny

i used to love it!

IMO they love party games at this age. But don't assume they've played them very much before. So do make sure you explain the rules very slowly and carefully, and check they all understand them before they start.

Some great suggestions here, thank you all.

Particularly like the sound of Kim's game and the 'I am a banana'! I think we'll also do the orange under the chin (dd is scared of balloons even though I'm sure that game would be very popular too).
