DD is having her party this weekend and we have been thinking of food that she wants to have.

We have one gues who is allergic to diary, but he is only little and his mum will be around to check what he is having. Another one of the little ones is allergic to chocolate, agin mum will be there though.

So far we have:

mini pitta breads
pots of humous (DD's big fave at moment)
cherry tomotoes
cucumber sticks
pepper sticks
mini sausages or mini sausgae rolls
ham/cold meat
cheese portions
crisps
grapes
strawberries
cup cakes (not chocolate) - although can't decide if I should send these home with them, rather than a piece of cake (they have same topper picture as cake) ???
apple juice and water cartons

Do I need some biscuits or someting else sweet?

We have 21 coming aged 2-8 (mixed), but mainly age 5/6 girls.

Must remember napkins, knife, candles and matches too!

What about the food? Enouh? Anything I have forgotten that is a must?

What about a few sandwiches as well for those that won't dip the pitta in hummous?

schmoopoo · 09/04/2008 12:30

Looks greatr maybe soem chocolate fingers

Some party rings would go down well too.

RTKangaMummy · 09/04/2008 12:31

watermelon pipless always wenbt down really well in DS parties

I don't want to make sandwices because of the spread/butter issue, and don't want to have to buy diary free spread just for a handful of sandwiches. Plus have friends staying so don't want the hassle really of having to make them if I am hones - prefer things I can just put out on platters ont he day with no prep from me!

I though pitta as they can use it to make sandwiches even if not dipping. Could add a packet of wraps as well if they don't like pitta?

Yes, stick some party rings out too - melon balls went down a storm at my DD's 7th birthday party, looked great alongside the strawbs and grapes.

I would certainly send a cupcake in party bag rather than cake - at the end of the party, do you really want to be cutting and wrapping 21 pieces of cake and hurriedly bunging into bags?!

I've been known to make a traybake sponge and cut and wrap that in advance, and then have the actual cake at the party!

Trying to avoid chocolate as doesn't seemf air to have it on the table when 2 of the little guests can't eat it.

Will get biscuits though - DD loves party rings

MamaG - that was my idea re cupcakes. Can then take cake home and eat it up with family and friends over the following week. Or even send it into school for them to have there, esp as some of DD's good friends can't make it as still on holiday.

At DS2's party we had fruit kebabs as well, 20 chidren and no-one got stabbed because the adults kept an eye on the children and whipped the kebab sticks away when they were finished.

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 12:40

I love the look of fruit kebabas and we do have them a lot at home. But if I am honest - I am going for lazy option!

How about some breadsticks too - my DS doesn't like pitta bread, but will make a beeline for a breadstick!

Hulababy · 09/04/2008 12:43

Ah yes, forgot breadsticks. Will def add to list

I got the boys to help me thread the fruit, they enjoyed it immensely

I agree that preparing strawberries/pineapple is a PITA though (grapes are easy. wash n go)
