Party entertainers - how much would you expect to pay?

I'm thinking of hiring an entertainer for a children's birthday party but they charge £140 for an hours entertainment (sounds brilliant though) including travel.

Whereabouts are you? we had a fantastic bloke for dd's 5th birthday - think he was £160, but did 3 hours and supervised 16 children during their meal - he also got them excited but managed to keep them under complete control - I can't manage 2, let alone 16!

I'm in Somerset

You can expect to pay anything from £100 to £250.

If it really sounds good then I don't think £140 is unreasonable.

£100 for 45 mins entertainment then tea then 45 minutes entertainment. (I do and supervise the tea obviously). Not bad I think, but it is £10 for each extra child once you have reached twenty children.

Thanks for the replies. I think we probably get someone a bit cheaper, but not much, and he does sound great.

Mine have all over the years cost around £150 for an hour and a half - then you get half an hour to feed them. I now realise that I must have been paying well over the odds but I seriously have NEVER heard anyone do a party for under £100

We would have half an hour play (probably borrowing a bouncy castle from a friend which will then be let down), then an hour with the entertainer, then half an hour to eat and a final quick play.

My fave local entertainer here (East Mids) costs IIRC about £60 for an hour of magic show and games. That was for up to 30 children. Mind you it was a couple of yrs ago so she's prob charging, ooh, £70 by now.

It's more if you get her to do the whole party.

I think £140 for an hour is a bit too much. More than I would be prepared to pay anyway. But then I like doing party games myself lol.

I paid £175 for 2 hours of excellent entertainment for 3 year olds.
