Books instead of Party Bags - but which ones would you choose for 5yr olds?

Instead of party bags this year for DD1's party I have decided to give the children a book, ballon and sweets instead of the normal party bag tat!

BUT which book(s) would you choose for 5yr old girls and boys and apart from The Book People where to get them? Thanks.

Definitely yes.

I would say The Book People are the est place to look TBH.

DD recently was given one of \lnk{http://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10051_92357_100_500020__ category_\these} Says from age 8 but DD and her friends are age 5-6 and all liked them.

We gave these one year - think it was when DD was 4.

These look nice

I have done books in the past and they went down well. This year the girls are all getting a small Polly Pocket set - 99p from Home Bargains

Thanks Hulababy. That's good 99p for Polly Pocket, my DD loves PP, good idea!

I saw those Winnie the Pooh books too, and what do you think about Paddington, they also looked good?

I could get your first link to work, what was it for?

I am sure 5yo would like paddington too.

That's interesting that the puzzle books would be suitable, they look good too and something different too, but without being able to see inside I wouldn't have considered them. Thanks.

DD has the ocean one. There is a short paragraph of he story on each page. Then on each page some form of puzzle - spot the difference, can you find x/y/x, mini mazes, etc. All related to the story.

Usborne puzzle books are great - we ahve a few.

also look at redhouse.co.uk - free delivery on all orders, they are linked to the book people

not sure if you ahve girsl or boys - but the rainbow fairy books are current fave of dd (6) and all her mates. would work out less than a pound a go. you couse use spares in pass the parcel or something

Thanks hana for the link, those books look great too! DD1 would love them just for home I think!! Actually you've hit the nail on the head with the girls and boys thing. There will be about 30 children and I'm not sure what the split will be yet, maybe half and half girls and boys. So I was wondering weather I should go for something neutral that I can just buy 30 of, or something for each. Hmmm...
