DS turns 8 in September. He was asking for an 'adventure' party eg assault course, flip out or similar, but we simply can't afford it, plus they're all minimum 10 people, and there are 12 boys in his class so we'd have to invite all of them to not be dicks. So we've agreed to him having 5 friends round after school for a little party. Given he wanted an 'adventure' I want to make sure it's exciting and good fun for him. Please throw some suggestions at me!

Google ‘string laser maze’ - we made one for the dc during lockdown and they loved it!

Treasure hunt
Scavenger hunt
Pizza making

Strawberry shoelace race - competitors put one end of a strawberry shoelace between their lips and then put their hands behind their back. Somebody else shouts go and all players race to get the shoelace into their mouth without using their hands.

After Eight race - similar to the shoelace race but start with an after eight on your forehead.

The good old chocolate game - sit in a circle, take turns to roll a dice, if you roll a 6 you put on hat, scarf and gloves and use knife and fork to eat individual chunks from a choc bar on a plate until next person rolls a 6.

Smarties race - give each child two small bowls and a straw. Fill one of the bowls with small sweets like Skittles or Smarties and leave the other one empty. On the count of three, children must suck the sweets onto the end of their straw, and transfer them to the other bowl. You can either put a time limit on the game or you could have a race to see who empties their bowl the fastest.

Balloon bulls eye - give every child a balloon to blow up, and ask them to hold the neck shut rather than tie it in a knot. Place a biscuit in the middle of the floor, and on the count of three, everyone releases their balloon. Whoever's balloon lands closest to the biscuit gets to eat it!

Balloon shaving - give everyone a balloon and marker pen. They now have two minutes to draw a face on their balloon, and then apply shaving cream over it. Then give everyone a plastic knife for their razor. On ‘Go’, players now shave their balloon – only without popping it. The first person to do that is the winner.

How big is your garden? Could you do den building or make a little assult course?

Does your at home party budget cover taking him and a few friends to the Adventure Centre/Flip Out/etc + McDonalds (if one close by)? If you drive, no more than a car full so him and 3 friends. You may find it easier and he gets what he really wanted.

Oh some great ideas there thank you @Fivemoreminutes1 we actually did a treasure hunt for him for his 6th, and I very cleverly hid one of the treasures in our shoe rack... carnage!

We don't have a very big garden unfortunately @downwiththebees I like the idea of an assault course but I'm not sure it's big enough.

Yes that's not the worst idea to be honest @cheercaptain he's already struggling to pick 5 friends though 🤦‍♀️
