Birthday party invitations for friends only

Could you all help me with the correct wording for inviting only my sons friends to his birthday party and not siblings. I don’t want offend anyone but I want to make sure that no one brings the siblings anyway. As has happened to the last few parties we attended.

Some details - it’s a package deal science lesson with experiments party for 20 children. Any more will take it into the next level and it’s just costs too much. 20 children fit my budget along with hall hire and food.

Something nicer than “Sorry, no siblings”

Just say that but dress it up a bit. So something like 'unfortunately due to limited numbers there will not be room for siblings to attend'

This. Don't be too woolly or people will choose to misread it.

That sounds like a cool party!

whiteroseredrose · 21/06/2022 21:42

No siblings sounds fine, but to be honest I can't understand why anyone would expect siblings would be allowed in the first place!

This sounds perfect.
I looked at the science party for next year, looks brilliant.

Exactly what I've said on a few party invites and it's never been a problem. The only issue you might have is if you're expecting a parent to stay at the party and they don't have childcare for their other child/ren.

DD went to one of these science parties a few years ago. They did allow siblings, there were tons of kids there and it was a bit out of hand - kids running about etc. It would have been much better with a smaller number so the kids could properly get into the experiments

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 21/06/2022 21:51

You also need to be clear if it’s a drop off party.

GreenClock · 21/06/2022 21:54

Sounds like a great party!

You need to make it clear that parents can drop and go. Otherwise, parents with no childcare for the siblings will have to decline, which might disappoint your DC.

bitofawait · 21/06/2022 22:17

Activities for age 4/5 only will rule out most siblings ! Ha ha unless you are inviting one twin or they have their kids very close together

eatsleepswimdive · 21/06/2022 22:20

Just say sorry no siblings. No need to dress it up

MrsToadflax · 21/06/2022 22:31

I would recommend stating VERY clearly 'no siblings.' I was surprised at the amount of parents who assumed they could bring siblings to my children's limited number parties. I wasn't clear enough with just saying 'limited numbers' and it became clear they were expecting to bring siblings. If one of my children is invited to a party I wouldn't dream of turning up with the other two as well, unless told I could.
