Children's birthday presents etiquette

Just wondering what is appropriate amount to spend on children's birthday's presents.
For example, if a party is in a soft play center where prices per child are available online should a birthday present be of similar price?
Would the parents get upset if they spend £20-£30 per guest child and receive presents worth £5-£10?

You're overthinking. (Normal) people don't expect the cost of the gifts to "pay back" the cost of the party. £5-10 is fine, I sometimes go £10-20 for the closest friends.

I don't think it ever crossed my mind to think of the cost of the party as being in any way related to the value of the presents kindly given to my DD.

Soft play parties where I live are generally £8-10 per head.

I usually spend up to £10, but I think going forwards I'm going to put £5 in a card because kids just get so much stuff for their birthdays, and our house is so cluttered with toys, I suspect many other parents feel the same way.

Milne are in reception. I spend approximately £10 regardless of what type of party.

I tend to spend a tenner whether the party is in the garden or soft play. Maybe a bit more for very close friends.

I've never understood the cover your place school of thought. I've just given whatever is affordable at the time.

That's great to hear. Just don't want to upset parents giving too cheap presents or put them in awkward situation with overly expensive presents.
It is the first year DS's nursery friends have birthday parties so was not sure what is acceptable.
Where I live weekday soft play parties are £10 per head but weekends are between £20-£30. Majority of parents in my DS's nursery work so parties are on weekends.
Presents we received from neighbors or friends for Christmas and other non-party occasions were between £10-£25.
I have not seen money or gift cards being given to party hosts so far. All guests bring something in bags or wrapped. Obviously I cannot tell the price of wrapped presents.
After buying bigger sized presents I realized finding space for big items might be an issue. Now I try to buy something smaller.

There are a lot of expats's children in my DS's nursery. Hope they have the same attitude about children's birthday presents.
