Hi,

My dd wants a sleepover for her 11th birthday - only a small group - any ideas that won't break the bank? Thanks x

Cooking small DIY pizzas or cupcakes (even better since they can work on decorating, too).
Karaoke contest or you can make funny slideshows with birthday songs for them to sing along and the best performer would get a small prize (a cute pen, stickers, chocolates etc).
Trying out various hairstyles could be a good idea- www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty/hair/tips/g1894/celebrity-hairstyles-braids/?slide=30
Collage contest where each of them uses birthday collage templates and pictures of the birthday girl and the author of the best collage alse gets a prize.
There are also glittery face masks that you can get for them to play spa and take funny pictures.

my dd had a birthday sleepover at around the same age just a small group of 4 friends. I found they were happy at that age just to be left to do their own thing so it wasn't really a party as such. we bought pizzas, snacks for them to eat and popcorn and a couple of movies for them to watch, maybe some board games if they want to play them They all really enjoyed themselves. Just keep it simple and stress free, they will enjoy themselves.

You could get face masks, nail polish and hair treatment from Wilko's/ Primark/poundshop.

Never have I ever jar
Beanboozled
Twister game

Could do a doughnut pole.
Could have a pinata
Could do an ironic pass the parcel with really fast club music.

But years of experience has shown me that really all they want is food, their own space and a few fun things to do. They will honestly be happy just being with each other and actually I have found that the more I tried to organise stuff, the less fun they had.

Make sure birthday girl is happy re: food, drink and whatever activity she wants and the rest will just be plain sailing.

All this results in quite a cheap birthday to be honest.

I think things always look a bit better if there's a theme or colour and I know it sounds like a faff but even if it's two favourite colours if everything is in that colour then even the cheapest of things - £1 nail varnish, balloons, serviettes etc - end up looking more pulled-together and personalised for the birthday child. But that's just me! I'm a bit like that - I think you can have bargains and cheap things and it all look nice - I don't think you need to forfeit looks for cheap things.
