TellusMater · 02/01/2008 15:21

Eh?

You ask party guests to bring a tenner?

You pay party guests a tenner to come?

You don't have a party and pay your ds a tenner?

[it's piggy by the way]

Ah, so you ask for money when you send out the invites?

Yuck. Did you ask for money on your wedding present list by any chance cod?

HuwEdwards · 02/01/2008 15:23

yes, esp for slightly older kids. I phone the parents and say 'what's he into then, or is he at the age where he'd prefer the money?' They invariably jump at the idea of money.

I bought a whole load of butterfly deely-boppers and sequinned hairbands in the Monsoon sale for 1.50, which I shall use for dd's party gifts this year. Ha!

MacavitysCat · 02/01/2008 15:25

Actually, looking at the massive pile of presents my dses got (age 3 and 2) for Christmas, perhaps it's not such a bad idea. Can I start it from their 3rd birthday do you think? And ask for cheques to be payable to me? Hmmm. Am liking it more.

Sounds ok for older ones.

Could get one of those hand held card swipe machines. Greet them at the door of the party. 'May I have your coat and your mummy's pin number please?'
