Morning party - what would you expect?

I'm organising DD's 6th birthday party, it's a whole class party. Due to venue availability we've got a morning slot, 10.30-12.30. As a parent, what would you expect in terms of catering at that time? I was thinking crisps, sweets, cake, juice cartons for kids as most of the parties we've been to the children don't actually seem to eat that much of the real food (sandwiches, fruit etc). For parents I was thinking coffee/tea, maybe croissants or something? I've not done a whole class party before and I don't want to massively over-cater or leave everyone starving!

Ooh tricky time. What is the party? If it’s a soft play type thing then you could do lunch at say 12, then home at 12:30.
I’d expect a proper (but still shit) kids lunch if it was over lunch time.

The fact that you have a midday slot would make me assume that there would be a meal of some sort.

If soft play etc, then even the party boxes with a snack or sandwich, mini pizza, fruit, crisps, followed by cake or the the typical sausage/nuggets/fish finger chips and beans/peas...

Yeh I would expect that there would be an early lunch, I would say as you suggested but add a couple of trays of sarnies or sausage/cheese & onion rolls.
I wouldn’t bother doing separate anything for the adults they can nibble on the same but tea & coffee good idea.

It’s a local adventure playground, we’ve been to a few there and the kids seem happy to play without needing much in the way of entertainment. There’s a kitchen on site so I could do pizzas and garlic bread at noon, then birthday cake as dessert/wrap up by 12.30. Will coffee, tea and scavenged kids snacks be enough for parents or should I be planning extra food for them?

I would expect lunch of some kind.

Thesearmsofmine · 05/02/2022 20:51

For the dc of course, not for adults(although nice if you want to do that).

MonkeyPuddle · 05/02/2022 20:56

I wouldn’t expect food of any kind for the parents.

We just had DD's party at soft play which was 2-4, so in that time between meals same as morning I suppose.

We had sandwiches, some pizza, veg sticks, mini sausages, some fruit, etc. All went down a treat. And then ice cream and some cake.

There wasn't anything specifically for adults (but enough stuff for them to have the kids' stuff if they were hungry!) but most just bought a coffee or something.

I would do some kids lunch type food for 11.45ish then cake

Fire19 · 05/02/2022 21:03

Hot dogs have seemed to be popular at a lot of the kids parties I have been to recently.

Jenjenn · 05/02/2022 21:04

Can you get few pizzas delivered to save you faffing around? Adults maybe drop and leave so I would try to focus on watching kids not doing food. No lunch for adults but a bit extra for kids so adults can scavenge leftovers.
