Toddler Halloween party- help!

I love Halloween and I haven't found any toddler suitable Halloween events in my local area, so I have decided to host my own!

After all what's the point in having kids if I can't dress them up and do silly things like Halloween parties?!

I'm on a budget, party is going to be about a dozen people max (Including parents). I've asked people attending to bring something that can be eaten/played with with them.

Where can I get good budget Halloween decorations and food from?! Any ideas for toddler friendly games? They are 20 months.

Thanks for any advice!

poundshop.com have got lots of halloween decor and sweets for £1
link
I think i'd end up doing a big plate of sandwiches (basic ham or cheese), some crisps (you can get halloween themed ones from the likes of tesco), squash etc

this website has some good ideas in terms of games

We're on a budget this year, too, so lots of DIY decorations like Halloween picture collages (could be something not frightening like pumpkins, black cats, fairies etc) and a slideshow with Halloween pics and some spooky music that will be played as the background tune.
I'll also use led string lights that we usually have for Christmas but there will be pumpkin stickers on them.

Here are some toddler friendly activities, too- lajollamom.com/toddler-halloween-party-ideas/

Poundland have loads of great stuff. Like large window decorations for a quid each.

For 20 months you could do some messy play - like spaghetti tray, jelly tray, foam tray etc, then put cheap Halloween donations in them.

We had an amazing toddler Halloween party pre covid. Some things that went well:

  • made a huge storage box of slime (jelli baff- maybe 1/4 packet), added pound shop pack of insects, some ping pong balls that I took a sharpie to to look like eyeball etc. Put it on floor with lots of towels under to catch the spillage, added some bowls and kitchen implements- whisk, ladle. Loads and loads of fun filling/ emptying and fishing for stuff.
Made decorations with empty milk bottle, drew on faces, filled with water, dropped in glow sticks. Had a dark tent - blankets pegged around a table to make a den, and some light up stuff in it. We really had a great time.

Home Bargains and any supermarket as well.

Draw faces on tangerines to make baby pumpkins!

Asda have some great cheap Halloween stuff.

You could put some Halloween music on...the nightmare before Christmas soundtrack is good.

A fun game is to have a race between two teams to wrap someone up in toilet paper to make a mummy. Whoever finishes first is the winner. That might be a bit lost on the babies, but the adults will enjoy!!

I wouldn't worry too much about doing games and stuff. People will chat and pass the time of day together.

Enjoy!

Asda have cute Halloween bunting for £1.

Don't forget Bing and Duggee both have Halloween episodes, if you need 10 mins break!

I'm hosting my fist Halloween party this year too and I am super excited!! We have age range from 11 months to 5.
We got some really cheap decorations from home bargains and Asda. It was £1 each for stuff like spiders web, Halloween tinsel, spooky cloths which I will hang on the banister and mirrors etc.
We plan on closing the curtains and having a disco light on (we also have a lamp which makes nice patterns on the roof which we will put at the other side or the room).
We are putting cheesy music on (baby shark, Hokey Cokey, dingle dangle scarescrow) and that have actions to them and are really popular with the toddlers.
Games - we are doing decorating ginger biscuits (home made in Halloween shapes), pass the parcel (small gifts of chocolate and a main gift of a book which were £1 each).
Getting 3 boxes and cutting a small hole in for a lucky dip to win a chocolate treat (one filled with leaves, twigs, conkers. Another with cooked spaghetti. One filled with jelly).
Food- keeping it cheap and simple. Sandwiches cut with Halloween shape cutter, pizza, sausage rolls, crisps, buns, just general party food. Lots of ideas online for Halloween themed but found them all to be sweet things. Going to try the banana ghosts and a few others but generally haven't the time or energy for anything too but extravagant. Good idea asking everyone to bring something!!
Hope you have lots of fun 👻

Another cheap game I saw which looked good was tissue paper over paper cups with a lucky dip inside. Going to do it in the shape of a pumpkin or ghost. Some of the cups will have spiders in and some small treats. The chocolate treats are only things like Halloween chocolate coins (from home bargains 79p a bag or small bag of buttons etc - nothing too crazy). Thinking they will all have 15-20 treats by the end of the night which is more than enough chocolate. Got little Halloween party bags which I'm going to put there names on so they can collect the treats to take home.

Sorry for the delayed reply everyone - poorly husband so I'm on full time work and toddler duty right now.

These are some excellent ideas, I really appreciate them! I haven't ever done anything like this before so it's all new. I feel empowered!
