Ds will turn 4 in January. I have some ideas for his party; we're having it at home because it's cheap, and am going to send all parents away, move as much furniture out as possible, and have some games like Musical Statues and maybe Blind Man's Buff if I can remember how it goes [googles], also some messy stuff, then I'm going to pitch a tent in the garden (before the party obviously) and have 2 crawler tunnels out of the back door to the tent, and have tea in the tent with torches and lunchbox style teas (an attempt to have a fun tea without any space in our house to have it separately!)

DS has poleaxed me by insisting he wants a pyjama party. I've asked him what happens at a pyjama party as I'm not quite sure myself, but obv he's a bit vague. I assume this would just be everyone in pyjamas watching a DVD, maybe a sleepover. I'm not going to do either of these things for a 4yr old, but wearing pyjamas would be OK I suppose.

This is a long-winded way of saying, would you be OK with your child wearing pyjamas to a party in january??? and what would you expect if your 4-year-old was invited to a pyjama party?

I'd be worried about them feeling cold, sat outside in a tent in january wearing only pj's

Darn. Yes, my thoughts exactly. Either I have to rethink the party with pyjamas, or insist to ds that he's wrong and he doesn't really want a pyjama party...

My DD has just said she wants a pyjama party! NO sleepover- just kids in their PJs. I am just about to send out the invites, as it is in 2.5 wks time...

Thought I'd do a cake in shape of a bed with a dolly in it and some themed games ... sleeping lions? pin the nose on the teddy? pass the pillowcase?

honeyapple · 21/11/2007 17:06

she will be 5 BTW

choosyfloosy · 22/11/2007 14:17

oh honeyapple thank you.

I think I am being the childish one - I was so excited at the thought of the tent in the garden that I was reluctant to let go of the idea.

[ok rethink]

Right! Brilliant! I'm going to nick your idea honeyapple about the themed games[leans over desk and whips it like large bullying person], and I'm going to do a picnic in ds's room, perhaps with fairy lights, ooh even better LED lights [googles] and torches with multicoloured cellophane to make patterns with, and I will in fact be much happier not to have 7 under 5s in the garden in January, what was I thinking????

I actually don't think its too mad an idea! They could have dressing gowns and slippers on. They could also have blankets to sit across their knees. If they're only going to eat their tea out there, it'll be under an hour. It think its a fab idea!

You could light a giant bonfire to keep them all warm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
