ok..bought a factory second choc fountain from ebay and it looks fine works ok as in the heat and motor are working but no instructions. So..know it can't be rocket science ( !) but do I melt the chocolate before putting in on the heat plate then turn on motor or does the heat plate melt the chocolate and how much choc will I need ( family size fountain) and what chocolate or that just preference? Thanks in advance.

I've used one a few times at our youth club with varying degrees of success.

you should be able to melt the choc on the bottom plate of the fountain, but tbh it takes aaaaaaages, so yes I would melt it first. You will need loads of choc - way more than you think - big big bars of glaxy or dairy milk are yum.

I've heard some people mix the choch with a tbs of veg oil to keep it runny. I've not done it, but it might be a good idea, because ours always starts to solidify at the top of the fountain.

Don't turn on the motor until you are sure that all the melted choc is properly runny on the hot plate, then switch on , let it reach the top and "fountain" all the way down, and let it go for a while before actually eating it all.

that's all very garbled, but when it works and you dip strawberries and marshamallows in it - it's fab

Pain in the bum to clean though!

Don't let any passing 6 year olds drop a grape down the top bit and on trying to retrieve it tilt fountain thus spraying your guests and the back wall of your house with melted chocolate

Was on the verge of buying one for dd but not sure now. It seems like too much faff! Can you put the parts in the dishwasher and is there a lot of wasted chocolate every time you use them?
