Hi
With the new rules I am thinking about an online birthday party for my daughters 10th birthday. Has anyone downe this during lockdown and can give me ideas please?

Sounds like a great idea. My son did a little meet up with a scavenger hunt. Just things like " get your favourite toy", "get a sock" things like that. Either first one back wins, or just get them to show and tell. It was surprisingly fun.
Before the party you could take round a little treat box to each house so they can all eat or have cake together. This could contain a joke or riddle for them to read to each other.

Online scavenger hunts are popular with the Scouts and guides.

Have a google

Or a murder mystery is they are old enough- Marie cutie did one you can download for a donation

Make the party shortish, as I think kids find all the concentrating pretty exhausting. I'd say 45 mins tops, including cake singing and eating.

HappyInL0nd0n · 09/09/2020 17:58

We hired an online entertainer for 45 mins & did fancy dress. Went great, but it was for a younger crowd. Good luck. It's depressing organising virtual parties, but I'm sure you'll make it as fun as it can be x

I've not hosted but DD (5yo) has attended 3 Zoom birthday parties (1x 5, 2 x 6 yo). By far the best was a hired entertainer who did magic tricks, scavenger hunts and a dance competition. It lasted 2 hours and kept all the kids engaged.

Maybe there's an online jewellery making workshop, or a makeup tutorial or something else suitable for a 10 yo. Origami tutorial?

My sister is a scout leader and she’s modified some of the tasks from this book to use with her group, it went down well. I used some for friend zoom meet-ups and we all had a good time.
Agree with previous posters about keeping it short.

Loving this. DD wants a virtual party next month. Great given her friends are flung far and wide, but makes party bags quite tricky. Anyone got any ideas of things that can be sent through the post ahead of the party?
Jamhandprints · 13/09/2020 20:20

@Feminist10101 how old is she, and what things does she love/ what kind of theme does she want?

trilbydoll · 13/09/2020 20:22

I did a quiz on Kahoot for 7yo dd. I didn't make the guests all log on and answer as it would have been a test of the fastest readers, they just shouted out the answers.

KindergardenCentre · 13/09/2020 20:33

Dd's party included a scavenger hunt (the first letters of the items spelled out happy birthday) and a dance competition although not everyone could hear he music very well. Tbh, they were happy chatting too. We delivered party bags which had a balloon so I think they had a keepie uppie competition too. Rice kriskie cake posts well for anyone not living locally. We included a candle for ease and everyone lit the candle and sang happy birthday together.

For brownies we have done baking (mug cake recipe online), table quiz (a/b/c/d answers so they just held up a piece of paper with their choice), yoga class.

Will probably do some online gaming and then a zoom session, maybe with scavenger hunt or something.

She wants a certain cake, and I think I could make matching cakesicles to send out a few days before the party to those who aren’t local. :)

Wondering if there’s a game or something I can print out and send them all to do at the same time.

I could

drspouse · 13/09/2020 22:24

We did this in May for DD. We did musical bumps and statues, dressing up competition and scavenger hunt. We could have done Simon Says too I realise now. We took party bags round to the children's houses over the next day or two (there were 6 total).

Feminist10101 · 13/09/2020 22:34

Party guests will be 9,10 and 11

MilesHuntsWig · 16/10/2020 22:36

Anyone tried an online escape room?

TollyTols · 15/03/2021 20:09

Hi,

As things are going to start opening up again, what type virtual events will keep families & friends having parties on zoom? Keen to see what people think as wanting to continue with virtual events but want to know the types of ways to make it better than an in-person parties...if its possible! Hmm
