What did you get for your 40th birthday present!?

I have my 40th birthday coming up and my husband and parents keep asking me what I would like for a gift and my mind just goes blank. We are going to go out for a nice meal etc but I’m so stuck for present suggestions. I’m very lucky to feel pretty contented in my day to day life so things I would really like are things that are just too expensive for a gift. Any inspiration much appreciated!!

Does not sound weird at all, Crocodile, sounds totally fabulous! I’ve had a night away like that which was great, but a whole weekend would be soooo relaxing. If I don’t have a baby for mine I’ll be doing that too!

I got a MacBook 💻☺️

I got a leather zip-around Filofax case which I still have for the address book part but don’t use as a diary any more. Pocket size.

A watch from DH and my sister (went halves)
A party at home. Started with brunch at 11am, ended late late with brandy and Singstar. Bought lots of champagne and M&S food and invited people to come for as long or as little as they wanted, at whatever time they wanted. It was ace - lots of guests all day but always time to speak to everyone properly. Hangover from hell though...

From DCs I got a necklace with a Russian wedding ring pendant with their names on a ring each (I heavily hinted this one)

For DH's 60th last year we went to NYC. For my 50th I hope we'll be able to do a similar trip... got a few years to overcome global pandemonium.

A promise of an overnight stay somewhere. I actually wanted cash towards a new coat.

It’ll be like the last promise of an overnight stay, never redeemed. I’m a bit pissed off about it tbh.

I did get a nice jigsaw and some socks from the kids. But, I asked for salted caramel Lindt lindor - got Lilly O’Briens dessert collection. My favourite chocolate bar is Lindt Excellence salted caramel. So what did I get, 3 bars of green and blacks salted caramel. Hideous waxy stuff full of palm oil

I was quite sad at the lack of thought.

I'm turning 40 this year (on NYE). I am going to walk the West Highland Way and also, go on a steam train.

DH got me a pizza oven for the garden, which I had wanted for ages.

@SilverOtter It’s what I’m hoping for. My horse is now 19 so he’s getting on a bit. I’m thinking that getting a youngster in a couple of years will take me to the end of his ridden days and then I can bring on a youngster.

My birthday’s in March so I will have plenty of time to contact studs and put my name on the list. DH doesn’t know it yet but that’s what I’m getting 🤣🤣
