DD wants 15 people over for a party followed by 8 staying over (kipper-style if they actually get any sleep). The problem is, what to do with them. So far I can only think of one game I know they want to play - invlves getting into pairs and one dressing the other in loo roll to look like a "mummy". Any other ideas anyone? Otherwise I could let them do their own thing - dance etc I guess.
I wish Princess Diaries 2 was coming out a little earlier........

Selection of make up and clothing for a makeover? Where are you based? The face place is a great company who do makeover parties for all ages, mainly in the south.

What about hte choocolate game?

MY dd 12 still loves it

Circle of kids
one dice
when a six is rolled that person must don hat scarf gloves etc and try and open a big chocolate bar with a knife and fork.

Next person to roll six takes over,

It lasts until chocolate eaten.

Most kids love it

My dd tends to want me out of the way ,thank god

The face place

I nearly bought a Murder Mystery Party for dd's last birthday party - there is one especially for kids of about 11.

DD had a horse race party instead for her 11th - brill fun

For her 10th she had a Hawaiian party

and beyond that I can't remember

Thanks Lou33 - great idea but unfortunately I live "up north"
Polly28 - the chocolate game - I used tto play it in my 30s!! Had forgotten it - will definitly add that one in.

Do you want to spend money?
If so, how about a pottery party? - you can find companies that come to your house and the kids decorate/paint a pot, they then take them away to 'fire' and return them at a later date.
Whereabouts in the north are you?

bobs · 02/10/2004 00:11

Good idea but they did pottery at school last term and DD wasn't too bothered about it. Thanks anyway.

those adult party games when you have to guess who you are by asking yes /no questions were quite amusing for kids cos they've never played them before.

You know the one ? YOu walk around with a name on your forehead or on your back,eg michael jacson.
am i a man??

am i balck or white??

bobs · 02/10/2004 00:19

Now you're talking - another good idea.
I think the problem is, I don't go to enough parties, and have forgotten all the games .
Most 11 yr olds don't have "big" parties, just 5/6 friends for a meal, bowling, movie etc, but as she's going to "big school" next yr, and we've got the room, I thought it would be nice - I'm not looking forward to the sleepover part of it though

I'd have a search about for makeover parties around your way. They can't be the only ones.

These are based up north.

Or, what about something like this?

Got these , from here

polly28 · 02/10/2004 00:26

No the sleepover bit is painful isn't it?
Now I think about it a mini "adult" party with party games would probably go down well.

Spoon on string ,kids in a line ,pass the string up the trouser leg and top then down the nest person, first team to the end win.

pass orangeunder the chin no hands allowed

treasure hunt, takes a bit of organising but does use up a lot of time

jampot · 02/10/2004 13:22

Bobs - I saw the MMP games in Notcutts but WHS do them and probably a lot of the department stores.

Murder Mystery

tamum · 02/10/2004 13:41

I don't know if you've already thought out the food, but when my step-daughter had a party (a bit older, but it doesn't matter) we made pizza bases and put out lots of dishes with toppings so they built their own and then we cooked them. We followed that with a kind of ice-cream parlour- gave them a choice of a few types of ice-cream and put out jugs of butterscotch sauce, chocolate sauce and different sorts of toppings for them to help themselves.

Hope it goes well!

bobs · 02/10/2004 13:54

Thanks jampot - looks good and have earmarked it for another year
Polly28 - did the string thing last yr - great success so will do again (anything to tire them out
Tamum - good idea but was done at another party recently. Plan to give all sorts of little eats thay can come back to - 4 hrs is a long time (and that's before the sleepover bit!)
DH has just put foot down re so many sleeping over (doesn't like the responsibility) Hey ho, will broach subject later with dd
