70th birthdays - how can I use an old photo of parents as babies?

My parents are both 70 next month and I have an old photo of each of them as a baby which I would like to use in some way. Needless to say, the photos aren't digital . I had originally wanted to put together a book with lots of photos of their lives but haven't got my act together (and haven't been able to "steal" the photo albums from home). Does anyone have any ideas of what I could do with the photos - e.g. is it possible to scan them to make a poster for their party, or to make cards?

yes - I had a wedding pic of my mum and dad copied for their 40th anniv. invitation - you could scan the pic at home and make nice cards!

Find a cake shop or website that turns the photos into sugar and put them on the cake, or if you have a fair bit of money, get a cake shop to make a cake with one on (this can be a bit pricey though)!

I did a cake for my MIL and FIL's ruby wedding with an edible picture of them getting married on the top and it went down really well.

or you could have them printed on t shirts ! (or made into coasters/on mugs/mouse mats etc - obviously clarity depends on the quality of the original pics ! or m`ake a montage of them from child hood - adulthood.

There are loads of ideas on places like Photobox once you've scanned them. Have fun

I have used here before and they were fine:www.eatyourphotos.co.uk/

Have also used my local cake shop.

Great ideas, thank-you. I didn't know whether scanning the photos would work - I'll have a go tonight. Next year is my parents' 50th wedding anniversary so suggestions not used this year could be used next.

At my parents 50th wedding anniversary this year, we got an A5 booklet printed up (just on a colour printer) with photos them from when they got engaged, right through the years with all their children and grandchildren. I think there were about 10 pages, with 3 or 4 pcitures on each page. Everyone at their party was given a copy.
It was a total surprise to them, but they loved it ( as we had all managed to find photos which they hadn'd necessarily seen before.)
