Fairy party needed - any suggestions?

My soon to be 3 year old dd has requested a 'pink fairy party'.
We plan to have this at home and I would like to buy some pretty plates/cups/decorations etc.

However, after extensive searching, all I can find is Barbie or Disney fairy - which I really don't like - and which are not especially pink.

I know she won't mind (except for the pink bit!), but I would quite like to buy something a bit more tasteful/less obtrusively branded. Any suggestions?

By the way, any fairy craft ideas that 3/4 year olds could do at the party would also be very welcome.

Don't know about plates, but do you know about edible glitter? You get it from cake decorating shops and it's fab. You can have pink glittery everything - including marmite sandwiches if you like!

And go to a Pound shop and buy lots of fairy lights, then draw the curtains and have the party room lit by fairy lights alone.

Wow she would love that, katelyle - will definitely go and look for it.

make your own fairy wand/tiara? Very easy, lots of glitter and sparkles.

how about buy plain pink tablecloth and plates etc, add fairy stickers to outside of the cups?

play pin the star on the fairy wand, fairy says instead of Simon says

PandaG Make your own fairy wand is a great idea - will buy plain pink if I can't find any others.

Rubyrioja - you sound fantastic!

Amateurmum, I've just had a look on ebay for cake glitter, but the stuff there isn't what I mean. At cake shops you can get really fine sparkle powder - much more effective and pretty than the sparkle flakes that are being sold.

You can get plain pink paper plates and cups online.

Jane Asher.com is good for cake decs if no shop near you. While there take a look at the unbelievably priced cakes

craft: how about sourcing a pic of a fairy with a big skirt or wings and asking them to decorate it - we did sthg similar with DD's rainbow party and it was very successful - some colours, some stuck stickers, some collaged bits of paper.

Thanks Clary will look at Jane Asher

I swathed pink net round the outside of the table with pretend rose leaves in it. Twinkly face make up is easy - stick to butterfly or heart for eg (check for allergies first), fairy lights and twinkly fabric draped everywhere, sew some little pink purses (use pinking shears) and wrap with gold cord as party bags. I use Baker Ross, Partybox or Party Delights for supplies on line. Baker Ross do those big glue on jewels great for wands and wings. Lots of fairy cakes with twinkly icing piled high on a cake stand. Tie pink ribbon round the bannister, fairy wings on your front door... I love parties.

you could buy plain paper plates and bowls and let the kids decorate them.

Try Tesco for the cups and plates. That is where I got it for my daughter's fairy party.

You could get them to decorate their own bag. I have sewn lots of little white bags out of a sheet, will provide, glitter, feathers, stones etc. You can then use them as party bags.

Or you could cut fairy wings out from some cardboard attach ribbons and they can decorate them and go away wearing them.
