HELP! - Party ideas for introvert adults

I love dh to bits but he is way off the introvert scale so I have avoided planning parties for him (well since I did one for him ages ago which was a bit of a disaster). However he is going to hit 40 soon so even he thinks that we should mark the occasion with a party.

He's given me his ideal invite list and I have to say that I'm trying to bite my tongue - all the people on it would be great to have over on a one to one, but a party they do not make. I am gently getting him to reconsider some of his choices (by adding more people with greater mixing skills), but at best I'm going to have about 60 people, of whom I'd say half will only know a couple of other people there. And the majority of these are not natural get up on the dancefloor types (though if I get them drunk enough....!)

So, I'm looking at probably doing this at home (we have a fairly large downstairs living space and will probably use the garden too). I'm thinking that as well has having music I might have some additional entertainment, on the lines of college balls. So we might have a Wii setup in one area, say table football in another, with a table magician and a characturist wondering around too. Was thinking about a casino, but all that is probably a bit too much. We'll be doing food (either curry or hogroast, haven't decided yet).

If you are a introvert type, what sort of activities might draw you in?

Also how far should I go in forcing some of my more extrovert friends on to him for the purposes of a party?

Our wii seems to allow 4 people at a time (though not for boxing!)

Thanks OO - I have no problem at all with dh being introvert, but I would like his friends to enjoy themselves, so am looking for non threatening entertainment. Re casino etc - we'll probably use the garden as well if we get decent weather, so have a marquee or a couple of mini marquees up - and we have an open plan living area (living room, play room, dining room and kitchen), so actuallly a very good size for parties. Mind you if we're sticking to one theme, then we might use a different venue (part of my reluctance re halls etc was because I thought it would be easier to use different areas of house and garden for different activities, but for a more homogenous theme then a function room would be fine).

Oh I didn't mean you weren't happy with him being an introvert but sometimes these sorts of threads descend into give em lots of booze etc

and not everyone wants to get ratarsed [prim]

your house sounds suitable imo and would be better than a souless hall maybe

do not depend on our weather however for your garden use
