So those of you who really object to MaccD's... would you allow DC to go to a party there?

This is hypothetical as she's going, but just wondered really.

I really don't like McDonald's (no offence to anyone who does) and hardly ever take the kids there. In fact don't think I have ever taken DS2 who is 4. I object to it for a number of reasons (won't bore you) as do some on MN I know.

Sooooo DD is invited to a party there - one of her best and nicest pals - I just thought, why am I sending her there when I dislike it and the food it serves etc?

So would you?

what is chave sparty?

I don't like McDonalds, on ethical grounds, and have never taken ds there. Can't see it ever happening unless he's desperately hungry and it's the only place we can find. However, I wouldn't stop him going to a party at a McDonalds, that would be downright mean.

Don't think there's any chance of it happening though, the mothers at ds's school are all terribly middle class.

I don't mind mcdonalds, i would'nt have my child's party there but i would let my children go to a party there.

I don't see the harm in it as long as they ar'nt eating there evry week

My parents never took me anywhere like that, as soon as i past my driving test (i was 17) i was straight off to the drive through to sample a big mac lol.

my 19 yr old step son used to beg to be taken there, and for odd special occasions, we did . Now he's even more anti McDs than we are- he spent ages explaining to dd (5) why she shouldn't go. I'm afraid I tend to take the "the food's rubbish" line, as it's so much easier!

twinsetandpearls · 08/06/2007 16:49

As well as the food being awful I also have ethical objections to McDonalds.

twinsetandpearls · 08/06/2007 16:50

Dd actually responds much better to ethical arguments than it is bad for you. She is currently boycotting cadbury's, all her own decision

Like most of the posters here, I never take dss to McDs myself but do send them to parties if invited. They usually have the fish fingers/chips option.

Thanks for the input all.

She went of course. She ate chicken nuggets and chips, yes prob no worse than food at some parties, but as she said in some disgust "that was all", ie a FAVU free zone and not even any pudding! She had water to drink (her idea not mine!).

Anyway she said it was fun but I have to say it felt like the 7th simulacrum of hell for the 5 mins I spent there - very very hot and really cramped and noisy in a soft play area with not enough room for the tables and nowhere for parents to sit.

DD is almost 6 btw. Hosts nice middle class people too - last yr they had party at a much nicer and airy and light soft play. Ah well.

Is McD's cheap I wonder? - there were 16 there for an hour and a half party - maybe £7 a head? wow that's more than £100.

This is only the 2nd MacD's party btw in ooooh 5+ years and 3 children so maybe I should worry about something more serious lol.
