Been done before I know, but what do you buy the one year old who has EVERYTHING?

I know this has been asked before, but we are going to a birthday party for a 1 year old girl in a couple of weeks.

I am really struggling to think what to get her as she has more toys than any child I have ever seen, and she already has all the usual suggestions, such as stacking cups. I did think that I could buy something for when she is a bit older, say 18 months, but then it will be Christmas.

HELP!!

(Budget is £10 - £15 BTW)

picture for her room
pretty hat
a potted tree - eg native Rowan
something from www.holztoys.co.uk (all a bit different)

tigerschick · 29/05/2007 22:13

Like the idea of a tree or plant that can be her own. Not sure what you'd get for your budget but it's certainly different, and a lovely thing that she can enjoy as she grows with it.

a personalised book?

a wooden chair with her name on? (lovely cheapish ones from places like web ivory)

wooden book ends?

a clock?

nice cutlery set?

tigerschick · 29/05/2007 22:14

Sorry - didn't mean to sound like you're being cheap, just went to garden centre on Sunday and it's a bloody expensive business.

NeverEndingPileOfLaundry · 29/05/2007 22:17

Ooh Good ideas, thank you

No offence taken Tigerschick

Any other thoughts anyone?

a book, I always love dd and ds being given books more than anything and always give books as gifts.

dinny · 29/05/2007 22:18

you can never have enough books!

NeverEndingPileOfLaundry · 29/05/2007 22:22

Dinny - any suggestions as to good books? I expect she already has the obvious ones such as the Very Hungry Caterpillar - are there any other good but not so famous titles?

there's a website www.treesbypost.com who have tree gifts from around £11.

luciemule · 29/05/2007 22:27

we bought 'The Children's Collection of Poems' by Ted Hughes. I bought one as a christening gift but then bought one for DD as well, it was so lovely and the illustrations are gorgeous. It ranges with poetry from babyhood right up to teenage.

I just have always loved anything by Shirley Hughes and started reading her books to both mine from v young age and they still love them today (they are 5 and 2). Epecially Dogger.

or how about this books.peterrabbit.com/nf/Book/BookDisplay/0,,9780723247340,00.html?

a lovely present to give.

maisemor · 30/05/2007 11:49

a charm bracelet that you can add charms to every birthday. The first one being a small plate with her name and date of birth on.

Clary · 30/05/2007 11:59

Book is good.
Shirley Hughes
Axel Sheffler and Julia Donaldson (room on Broom, Gruffalo etc) - she may not have these.
Whare's My Teddy and others in that series

Those That's Not my Usborne ones are good. Or DS2 had [[http://www.amazon.co.uk/Animal-Hide-Usborne-Farmyard-Touchy-Feely/dp/0794505139/ref=sr_1_11/202-2499217-3923845?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180522684&sr=1-11 this book} with Poppy and Sam) - nice sturdy book which he loved
Or some colouring stuff - 1yos colour right? crayons and a simple book. I like stuff that gets used up and thrown away.
